talk to myself in private and public. working on the public part. if in deep thought or stressed i have to verbalize my thoughts. or slip up and have a word or phrase verbalized that i didn't want to say but i don't catch myself. tend to try to make it quieter by either having a pen in my mouth or chewing gum. people tend to assume schizophrenia when someone talks to themself and people who don't know me tend to think i'm crazy. but i'm working on it and just need to self aware.

Sure I talk to myself --- but even weirder is that I talk to the objects in my task. So, I was unpacking at my sister's house at the holidays and she said that I was talking to my clothes to tell them where I would be putting them in the drawers!! !

i sometimes talk and practice or anticipate a possible conversation.

i live alone - so I think this isn't so unusual --- but the talking to objects thing is very strange .

I say I talk to myself because I'm the only person around worth conversing with.

I'm talking to myself right now as I type.
My advice to everyone who urges to talk to themselves in public, carry a cell phone
with you, and pretend your using it. No one will look at you strange if you try this.
Hands-free kits are also advantageous.

I talk to myself all the time. I seem to be the only person at my work who does it so they think I'm strange. I don't try to hide it either.

I talk to myself all the time, though more often that not i will talk to inanimate objects, i'll tell the door off for not opening, or the chair for being in the way and things like that, i also talk to my pets a lot, though usually this isn't as frowned upon as having conversations with the couch.

I also do this in public, sometimes i just repeat a word or phrase and sometimes i have a running commentary on what i am doing. In the past i'd try to curb this behaviour but have found it rather useful and don't bother to stop myself anymore, sure, i get weird looks, but i get a lot less hassle as other people give me a wide birth, they don't want to set the crazy girl off.

All the time, and it's practically an unconscious thing for me. About a year ago, aguy that I work with caught me mouthing the words to something I was going to say before I said it. Also, a few days ago, a supervisor causght me doing it as well. --I guess my chances for advancement there are pretty much null and void....as if that major news for me. :?

Lol, yeah I do, but not in public, only around my family, boyfriend and others that know me well. They think it's funny. It's usually when I have a problem and people say 'what you talking to yourself for now? Is everything alright?'

It depends how I choose to interpret 'talk to myself'. If I'm driving somewhere, I'm almost always talking to the deranged drivers who seem to be on the road the same time I am. Of course, they can't hear me, but it still makes me feel better to 'vent' to them.

On the other hand, I often seem to be carrying on a running conversation with God. It falls into some pretty basic categories: Complaining; asking 'Why?' (as if knowing why would make a difference); asking for things to change; asking for the strength to accept them if they don't change; asking what I'm supposed to learn from the situation; feeling sorry for myself; wondering how God can put up with me; being grateful that at least He love me ... yada-yada-yada ...

Yes, all the time. It helps me cut through all the constant and often "irrelevant" mental chatter.

Mutter to myself, and sing to myself when no-one else is around. If I held a conversation with myself in public I'd end up getting sectioned!

I also make up silly songs to the tunes of oldies, singing about my most recent social dilemas, when I'm by myself.

i talk to myself whenever i can't sort things out in my mind because it's too crowded with other thoughts...which is most of the time.
