Sadly I have known people to have very bad experiences from calling crisis lines, as you did. However the important thing is to stay connected somehow - whether to us, or whatever - what works for you. Stay connected, and stay safe. I think anonymous helplines where you can phone for immediate and non-identifying support are of tremendous value, even though there you run the risk sometimes of striking a rookie when you need someone more experienced and insightful to meet your immediate need. No system is perfect, though you have to go on seeking help until you make the connection with the right person in the right place. There always is one out there, somewhere. It isn't always instant, unfortunately. WP is fairly safe and generally supportive for people in immediate crisis, however, that's one of it's best attributes, because so many of us have been there and walked that road too.
