Anorexia is something I'll never understand. Never in my life have I been happy with my weight. Even though up until I joined the army I was at a healthy weight (I gained a lot during that time and it wasn't muscle. I'm now trying to lose it) I was never happy with it. I always felt like I was fat, or looked fat. Being a guy I guess thats kind of odd (dunno). I've gone on all sorts of diets pre- army and none of them were successful.

I don't think I could ever have the will to starve myself voluntarily. Then again I grew up with lots of brothers and sisters (still have quite a few, 9 living with me) so someones always eating. But the idea of not eating at all seems obsurd. Food tastes too good, thinking about what I'm going to eat is a good way to spend time (Even when dieting you get to have the fun of finding something that fits within your diets parameters).

My personnel advice, worry more about exercise then what you eat. Only worry about eating habits if you feel what your eating is obsessive. I'm currently doing a battle with my weight, but I've decided that it doesn't matter what I look like but how I feel and that I exercise regularly.

I know that I can. I've been on 2 week fasts a couple of times. The last time, it was difficult to force myself to want to eat.

When I was 14 I went on a starvation diet and lost about 20 pounds. But I kept shaking and I couldn't think and it felt really bad. So when you lose weight the wrong way, you can't even enjoy it.

I've read all of your responses, and I plan on doing a combination of Nutri-system and calorie counting. I also plan on getting down to 140 to 150 lbs. I was thinking about making my mum feel guilty, by walking through her front door, weighing 110 lbs or less. I had an image of tears running down her face, because she lost her jolly Anglophile, and the new me was very spaced out and too mellow to be me.

You can't do something like this for revenge. Just make yourself feel good and healthy.

That's from low blood sugar. That happens to me all the time even though I do eat. It makes loosing weight hard for me because not only do I have to eat a lot to maintain a safe blood sugar level, but any excercise also drops my bloodsugar.

It's funny, because that happens to me when I go without for a short time, but after a couple of days, it just stopped. It was hard to do much, and yeah, I shook, but I was able to concentrate, and didn't really get dizzy too often. Got some nice hallucinations though.

TM1 magic weight lost plan.

1) walk 10 miles or more a day everyday.
2) drink only water or tea
3) eat say less than 2000 cals a day(count them)

okay you should be sick and weak in a few days of this
so move to step 4.

4) Get dextroamphetamine to treat your ADHD

In 1 year you will loose 50 or more pounds.

I pretty much do this anyway. Don't count cals though.
Too much effort.

I've thought about this, and I feel that if my mother can't accept me the size that I am, than maybe I should become anorexic. I can live on fruits, salads, soup and cereal at my flat, I can eat meat once or twice a week, at my clubhouse, and I can eat the way I currently do at my parent's house on Saturday. I will enjoy it, too. I want to see how long it will take for my mum to catch on, as well. I will go from 210 lbs to 110 lbs in no time. I might even change my image to something more wholesome, like that of a Flower Child. They were very skinny.

Goodbye my big, jolly friend. The jolly, gritty Punker with the Cockney accent. Youi will become something that will be more accepted in both society and your imediate family. Sniff-sniff...Whaaaah...sniff sniff.

There's a lot more to anorexia then weight loss. Please read this article if you think about "becoming anorexic" again, it's very long but still.. http://www.goteenforums.com/forums/peer-biybyo-support-a.html

I guess I better start that weight loss thread too  where do you think it should go, women's discussion or elsewhere?

Dont become sick for other people, if you really wanna loose weight, than you have to want it!
The best way is caloric counting, I use that, and I still eat my beloved foods, but I must eat less.
Also try not to eat before you got to bed, better go to bed a bit hungry. Drink mineral water. Count all caloric intake, including snacks and fizzy drinks, you should be around 1500 and 1800 cals a day, with up to 2000 on some days, this way you will loose weight. See your GP before you start any diet. Have patience. And do it for you, not for others, sorry, others can´t even fart for you.

I have had an eating disorder in the past, and my very strong recommendation is that you do not do it. Not only does it have the enormous potential to kill you but it can leave you psychologically messed up too. If you really feel the need to lose weight, be sensible about it, such as going on a calorie counting diet or the GI diet. But not the Atkins diet though, as this is also dangerous in my opinion.

Why does everyone keep thinking that one can simply acquire an eating disorder by deciding to acquire it???

Willfully starving yourself can be done by anyone with enough willpower but that doesn't make it an eating disorder.

This is like saying, "Oh, I think I shall have schizophrenia today!"

But you wouldn't keep it off. Extreme diets tend to trigger the bodies starvation response. While they do remove the fat more quickly, when you leave such a diet, your body tries to overcompensate, so that it won't starve again.

Yes, it is unhealthy. I highly DON'T recommend it.

I wish people would read my posts beyond the first sentence before replying. Repeating myself is getting old. I guess that's how it goes on WP.

I'd rather be obese than anorexic. :)
