I am an alchoholic
What? For two nights on the piss ?
This sounded like undue levity to me but whatever.
What moral high ground?
I was just expressing support and validation for someone who appears to be struggling. Isn’t that what the Haven is supposed to be about?
Well, the OP did title the post as I am an alcoholic, I don't get why we would be supportive of self diagnosed Aspies and tell a self diagnosed alcoholic they aren't. My guess is it's more than two nights total, it's just that the latest is two nights in a row. I'm expressing support too.
This place is getting ridiculous , unless you actually state you are showing support , people think you're a twat and put words in your mouth
I'm sorry. Forgive me? I didn't mean to come off that way.
Forgive you for what ? You haven't done anything wrong dude.
I was included in the quotes, so I thought I was one of the ones who made someone feel like a twat. Okay, thanks.
I think you made the star quote of this thread.
This: Only the person themselves can say if drinking is causing them problems. If you think it's a problem, it's a problem.

Its going to be rainy all weekend here. What shall I do besides drink? All I ever do is go on the internet all day and night. Its getting old. Boring and lonely.
Try video games maybe, I like to play them and well it will certainly make the time go by. Also the more you drink the harder it is to play well so that could discourage it some.

It's just me being autistic and noticing a pattern , I feel if I don't add qualifiers to all my posts they will be misinterpreted.
Qualifier: You did nothing wrong

Thanks, I did that on another thread (did not add qualifiers). I tried later, but it was too late. I was on a s**t list.

Is there a church near you? I ask because many churches usually have ladies who have all sorts of hobbies. For men it isn't normally the same, but for women, they have groups that are into knitting or other interests. What about Womens Institute groups?
And never forget, you are valued and loved. You may not feel it now...
Let me give you a quick story about a retired school teacher I knew. A lovely lady. She had always been single. I used to call her "Mrs James" even though she was a miss. She didn't mind at all. She used to call in with us maybe once a week or twice a week. Some weeks we didn't see her. But I always looked forward to seeing her. I am tearful as I missed her soo much when she died. I always have fond memories of her. And she loved coming to visit us. Have a chat with my parents... She would sometimes take us on outings in her little mini. When I was young she also for a short time took me to her local church.
I was thinking. Maybe you can be a "Mrs James" to someone in your area? You can share lifes experiences. The Mrs James I knew was there to see Amelia Aerheart land her plane in Burry Port in Wales when she was te first lady to cross the Atlantic by plane.
You may really enjoy having people to share experiences with. Back when I was a teenager, she was one of my best friends.. And she was in her 70's or 80's? No idea! When I used to ask my Mum said she was 21 like all lidies are.

I hope my comment didn't offend you - it wasn't really directed at you. I've been annoyed in the past by people who assume all drinkers/heavy drinkers must be alcoholics.
I used to drink quite a bit to "take the edge off", to numb my boredom or pain. It was just a phase, I only drink the occasional glass of wine these days.
I hope you're well - it might be a good idea to come here and talk to us when you feel this way ![]()

I recommend total abstinence from alcohol honey.
Each time you ingest more alcohol the cravings start again. Don't keep any in your home. I have an alcoholic friend and it's heartbreaking to see him self-destruct. Twelve step programmes are very effective and provide social support that takes the edge off the loneliness.
