Some day it will down on you that you can enjoy happy life by your own choice and whatever BS your depression is telling you just isn't true and completely irrelevant.

If you'll start working out, getting like 20 minutes of direct sunlight soon after you wake up every day and pay attention to what you are eating starting tomorrow, this revelation might happen as soon as this week.

Sunlight, exercise, healthy eating, quality sleep, agreed. 8)

You're weighing a possible but highly improbable short term happiness against long term suffering. Once I'm dead, my consciousness will no longer exist and there I will regret or care about anything I miss out on. On the other hand, as long as I'm alive I will continue to suffer.

People here care about you.
Do you have anyone in RL who would be distressed if you part this mortal coil?
No family members?

Remember that this is the OP's thread, so please - do not go off-topic, and do not regale readers with your experiences and repartee without first engaging the OP: it's not about you.

Consequently several posts not meeting these requirements have been removed.

Hi Dorkseid,

You seem like a smart guy. Do you like art, or Nature?

I have found that something like Nature is a good alternative to the society of people.

If I were to leave life, I feel like I would just be a static being who is stuck eternally. I would miss out on what life has to offer. Human beings are really a rather small part of life for me, though I don't dislike people in general.

Some people think it helps to share experiences.
It gives people perspective.
Would you prefer people didn't do that?

I feel like Dorkseid feels he's been given a bad break in life. Therefore, he doesn't trust people when they seek to assist him in some way. He might feel there's an "ulterior motive" when they reach out to help him.

I know I have no ulterior motive. I know most situations can have solutions. I've seen a few people here on WP who have risen from the depths of despair, and lived to tell the tale.

Your life will end at some point regardless.

You can always kill yourself tomorrow, take it from someone who really knows, there's no rush to do it tonight.

Yep. We go at some point.

But I choose to try to make the best of whatever life I have left.

I wish I believed in an afterlife.

The longer I wait, the more unnecessary suffering I will endure.

I'm sure you experience SOME good things, Dorkseid. You have friends. You have those kids. You enjoy rhetorical debate.

I have some nightmarish aspects of my life; but I have some good aspects, too. I believe I have succeeded in not being depressed because I do not rely upon the goodwill of people----even though many people happen to be decent.

What exactly causes you pain and suffering in present?

The most sensible reason is for your own edification. Buck the trend. They say the average Aspie only lives to 36. This accounts for all those that die really young + all those that live a long life. If the average age is 36, and you're still in your 30s, buck the trend by holding out a little longer.

The "successful" older Aspies here can't give you any meaningful advice. The kids are clueless. I hope what I'm saying makes a little bit of sense. Try to put a few more years between you and age 36.

Aspies have the same potential lifespan as non-Aspies.

There is nothing, physically, in having Asperger's which reduces a person's lifespan.
