Hey Tim
Wondering if maybe you're being like the guy deer hunting in a downtown parking lot or the lady trout fishing in her bathtub.
A lot of women like music, most people like music, and Austin's famous all over the world for it's music scene. Since it's a college town, there's probably music stuff going on there that isn't too expensive.
Have you checked out the Austin music scene?
Don't know what kind of music you like, but you'd probably want to stick to the stuff you like, so you'd be genuinely enthusiastic about the music itself, not just there to look for a girlfriend.
There's some correlation of different musical styles and politics and value systems, but it's obviously not absolute. For example, not everybody who likes punk rock is a bomb throwing anarchist.
If you got to know some male friends with the same musical tastes as you, you'd have something in common with them, stuff to talk about you'd both be interested in, so things would be a whole lot less awkward for you. They might know some females, and male friends are good to have too.
For some reason I don't understand, it's perfectly normal for those people we call "NT's" to be deeply obsessed with music, so if there's a style of music you really like, you'd be normal.

Did you say that wasn't proper? Did you march out on the track?
You were quiet, just like mice. And now you say that we're not nice.
Well thank you buddy for your advice...
