Encounters of that kind topic

I came of age during that revolution. Because of the excessive prudery of the past, western society went the other way. From one extreme to another. Instead of treating relations between the sexes and genders as adult choices, sex became a four letter word and was considered dirty. Now that we can talk about it freely, it is all over the place, the internet, the cell phone the crackberry, and is associated with violence, porn and even pedophilia instead of private love between consenting adults.

The problem is so complex and entangled I do not think it can be solved by any one means.

How do I handle it? I try to ignore the silly excesses and do not fall prey to the scams that seem to come out of sex talk, and this includes even so-called legitimate mainstream stuff like radio talk show host Sue Johanson whose treatment of the S- subject was supposed to bring it out in the open so that people would see it as a natural thing and not get caught up in the hype being complained about here.

I understand.

Maybe it is some peoples special interests. You know asexual going on about how they don't like sex gets on peoples nerves too. You have to learn to be tolerant of differences. Otherwise carry on and keep being upset - it's your choice.

But how often does that happen in real life? People going on about how they don't like sex? When, where? Give me a break! It’s the majority who don’t have the common courtesy to not push their assumption that everyone wants sex on me.

Truth is society is very intolerant of asexual people. When I admit to people that I've never gone on a date they automatically pity me, assuming that I want sex and can't get any. When I tell them it's a choice they ask if I'm gay. When I tell them I'm not gay they go silent (probably silently wondering if I'm a pedophile or something). Would that kind of sh*t not irritate you?

They very intolerant of prostitutes and still suppressive or sexually harrassing of women trying to express their sexuality.

The only person being bitchy on this thread is you. No need to project it onto other people.

Not really.. I pretty much had a nervous breakdown last night and totally went to pieces. Being forced to deal with the public today then excersising has helped, but thanks for your concern :)

"how dare"? If you have a rant on here, thats fair enough. But if your insulting a lot of people on the site and most of the population, you shouldn't really expect everyone to be sympathetic.

Evolution. The meaning of life is making babies.

That's if you believe in evolution

don't start with that. Leave it for the religion thread.

Who's they? You're confusing asexual people with prudes (who are usually heterosexual males BTW). Personally I wouldn't care if prostitution were made legal. I also don't care how people express their sexuality. I think people who believe it's 'indecent' for a woman to show her breasts are being ridiculous.

What bothers me is groups of guys who talk about sex constantly and make me feel ostracized for not wanting to talk about it. Or they silently think I must be gay if I don't want to talk about sex.

I'm taking about asexual as (they) Society in general. Sex use to be so privatised and thats when husband raped thier wives and paedophiles didnt get caught - Now it's out in the open. It's healthy to discuss such topics.

What I find is that people rarely discuss sex in a straight honest way. It's all about innuendo and banter.

But surely one can only discuss sex so much before it becomes unhealty.

and why?

Here is something that's annoying, someone starts talking about sex in a gross way to you and you don't like it and they tell you it's normal and you can't get a guy that way if you don't like it. Makes men sound like pigs. It's even more annoying when they ridicule you for not liking it or try and shove it in your face.

I think there is a general view that sex is about competition, like if a guy slept with loads of girls he must be a proper alpha male. So people (especially guys) often make out that there more successful and dominant than they actually are, and they often do this with innuendo. If you add to that the fact that a lot of people (especially girls) are to some extent ashamed of their sexual desires then you end up with a situation with a lot of people talking a lot of s**t.

I agree that it's pretty stupid and I like to think that I manage to be pretty honest about these sort of things but a lot of people don't feel that way.
