Too bad you don't go to school out here on the West Coast. You'd fit right in. If it is impractical to change schools in order to find a more amiable social environment, at least try to take frequent breaks away from your school and go to places where like minded people congregate. Since you are a Libertarian (My Party!) maybe seek out a group in your area. There are alot of liberal, green, environmentally conscious type groups out there, even in the midwest.
Don't know what to suggest for a very horny disposition; I've got some ideas but they are pretty x-rated, sorry.
Anyway, I hope you are feeling better, and don't dispair, this school thing is not forever.

There are no like-minded people in Wichita Falls. If you are not a Republican, and not an evangelical Christian, you will have a very difficult time in Wichita Falls. Since there is nobody compatible with me here, I would have to do a long-distance relationship, but nobody wants to travel halfway across the country to meet me.

Too bad I am not 40 years younger; I'd drive halfway across the country to meet a sweety like you! Being a Californian, I do tend to see the rest of the country as being like us, and am always shocked when I come upon cultural backwaters like parts of the midwest. One time I actually got invited to leave a town I was temporarily resting in by the local sheriff because I was a hippy! So I can grok your situation. Like I said, get out of this repressive little environment as much as you can, and remember, it's not a life sentence.

You aren't the only one. I have told myself that quite a bit in the past, though it isn't always easy for me to take my own advice.
That being said, it is good advice.
