he could have such a perfect girl.

I'd do anything to have a GF like you. Don't think that bad of yourself!

We all have problems and you've had it very rough in the past. You just had one of the last bad links to a bad past removed.. chris is behind bars and all that's left to overcome is the drinking issue.

baby steps lead to leaps. :)

 I love how Irn Bru is everywhere in Scotland! Every pub - Irn Bru and Tennant's draught!

When all the Ranger's fans trashed Manchester after the UEFA Cup final all I saw were cans of both of them everywhere! But also:

I bet the reason for that is the same as for drinking. Either way, baby steps.

I guess you can't make everything go away instantly but keep trying. Yes, you slipped up. People on diets or giving up smoking normally slip up. It happens. The important thing is that you're trying and you keep at it. Baby steps is about right.

I don't think I've actually tried Irn Bru.

It shouldnt have to be this way. Of all the possible coping mechanisms out there you chose possibly 2 of the worse.

I've never been able to do the casual sex and cutting has never appealed to me but I've used drugs and drink to forget things and pass the time for years but it doesn't work. You need things in your life to take you're mind off them until you're past them.

Just try not to dwell on it too much, he'll be back in time. Alot's happened recently and I'm sure when he thinks about it all wherever he is he'll understand a little. But you really can't make commitments to him which you're unable to keep, that leads to distrust.

Maybe try an OU course on something, learn at your pace and keep yourself occupied. What you learn could lead to an interestin career that'd help you stay busy in the future.

Well stick to promises about cutting for now and slowly stop with the drink. Unless you have an addictive personality (which since you've given up other drugs I take it you don't?) if kept in reasonable check the drinking can be phased to mainly social.
