i'm beginning to think that obsessive compulsive personality disorder is at work here and change is impossible.

As a general note, while everyone is entitled to express their thoughts, please no personal attacks. Fnord asked for insights regarding a trying social situation. Constructive criticism is fine, but please temper such harshly personal replies, respecting the integrity of our members.

no attack was meant. it is not a moral failing to have a personality disorder. many constructive suggestions have been offered, including two from me. all were ignored or shot down. my recent post is meant to be a non-value-laden possible explanation. my objective is your harsh. i'm sure fnord would see the irony in this.

Agreed. I don't see how anybody has done anything other than give Fnord constructive advice.

As was said earlier, I and others here wouldn't have bothered giving advice if we didn't care. To have it dismissed as being mean will ensure I won't bother giving constructive input in future.

And as I said earlier, Fnord will learn absolutely nothing and keep pushing people away from him if we all pretend everything is fine. That isn't being kind to him at all, it is ensuring he keeps doing the wrong thing and staying absolutely miserable and clueless as to why.

By giving him advice we are putting him in control of the situation. Whether he wants to take that or believe instead that everybody who says otherwise is below him and he is above them, is entirely up to him.

Fnord doesn't come across that bad on wp, I don't know how he comes across in person.
I can't really give any constructive suggestion due to lack of information.
