I've been considering a path towards developing my own style of self-therapy for my Asperger's. I used to work as an ABA therapist for kids and young adults on the spectrum, so I have some knowledge of ABA in praxis. My therapist thinks that bibliotherapy is also appropriate. But I know that I need some sort of structure, the kind that ABA offers.

Do any of you have experience with developing ABA, PRT, CBT, etc. for self-therapy? I'm away from my girlfriend while in grad school (she was also an ABA therapist), so I can only get so much support there. I really think it's possible to develop an approach that borrows from others, it just has to be very well structured, have some clinical basis for thinking it will work, and be reasonably workable.

Any ideas or points in the right direction would be fantastic. Thanks!

I didn't use ABA, I don't know what it is .

I studied basic psychology over the years by making it one of my special interests. (this was intentional)

I learned as much about my disorder as i could. I used what i could to fix myself as best as i could. I learned social skills but now i find i am a much happier person when i am myself and not trying to fit in.

I think you should look at what things you like about youreslf and what thigns you dont. Write down the things you dont like and figure out how to change them if possible. I think thats a good starting point.

Psychology is a great tool for fixing things you dont like about yourself.

Good luck!!

Well if you list out some problems maybe i can give you some sites that directly answer your questions.

If you don't feel comfortable with doing that here are some general websites.
