Who, besides doctors, have thought you need to be hospitaliz
ed?
My bf, whom I'll call Harry on here, says whenever I start screaming in public or even in the house, "Do you need to go to the hospital?" All I was doing was standing in the kitchen of the house with him screaming and crying about issues I had with his mother and how I was scared because she was coming to visit. He has psych tech syndrome (used to be a psych tech). If I say I'm suicidal he also recommends I go to the hospital and sign in as an inpatient. He also called the cops on me once and they took me to the ER of the general hospital and I was in the psych ward at that general hospital for 7 days. I think he thinks they should have kept me longer. When I have 3 or more mental problems he suggests I go into the mental hospital as an inpatient. He says sometimes that it sounded exciting to him too (he was jealous of me when I was admitted to a psych hospital for the first time; he said "I'm a bit jealous of you; I always wanted to be in the hospital". He also said when he was depressed and thinking of self harm that it would be fun to be an inpatient in the mental hospital and he thought seriously about going, also saying it would give him a break from housework, which is really one reason the place is there, so that people can use their energy to sort out their problems. When I had a lot of issues and my son had just been born and I was avoiding him and was lying there thinking about the issues and fears Harry suggested I go but I thought I'd done all the thinking I needed to do and knew where I stood. I should have gone. He told me it would give me time to think.
My parents are WAAAAY AGAINST hospitalizations for me but once when I was pregnant and wanted to go live in a bunker and was thinking of taking off and doing so, my mother did say "Okay, well, I think they did the right thing in this instance", meaning Harry and the psych ward staff and even me (I was voluntary... only reason I went in without being made to and consented to the treatment was that I was feeling terrible in another way too and needed a medication change, and also wanted a place to socialize because I was isolated and we could not think of a place to go to socialize; we were both depressed and our imaginations were WAAAY slowed down.)
My friend on here stays out of it and tries at all costs to avoid getting hospitalized himself.
LOL, glad I got this off my chest, not because it bothers me (it doesn't) but because it's so hilarious and now I'll have someone to laugh with!

If 'Harry' wants to go to the happy home so bad, I'm sure that psych tech training could make it so he looks like a nutter!
My dad wanted me hospitalized as a kid... meh. I figured it'd be fun, wouldn't have to hang out with him for a while. But they wouldn't let my cat come with, so I'm glad that didn't happen.
