My AS support group is meeting tomorrow. The discussion topic is to share something positive that happened to you in the last two weeks. I don't know if I will go, because I can't think of anything. I am having a rather hard time; nothing is going very well right now - work, health, personal life.

Do you find it easy to answer this question? Maybe some ideas from others would help me think of something.

This is a brand new support group, we've had one meeting so far just to "meet and greet." I'd like to support it and see it succeed, but only if I feel I can contribute. It also doesn't help that they announced they will start with an "icebreaker," which I never do well on.

I can see the problem.
I could possibly come up with some things that were really good for me.
And that's what it's all about!

Only problem is, these things are special interest, and I'm not sure how much I would like to share to a such meeting.
I mean, It's not that I don't want to share it with someone, I just don't want to share it with anyone.
I'm not even sure if anyone else than me would like those things, and to be honest, I'm not even sure if I could say such things.

For a note, the interests I'm talking about is: Computers, Electronics, Music, and AS.
If I should share something positive that had happened to me in the last two weeks, I would share something about Music and AS.
But these are deep-private subjects for me (Well, in person, but not at WP).

Nothing positive has "happened to me" in the last 5 years at least. I did finish repairing my van today though. My dad said I couldn't do it, and it did take almost 20 hours compared to the half an hour or less that a garage would have taken to do it, but I finished - so that's something positive that I created myself.

I know what you mean though, in general I'd find it very hard to answer that sort of question. I'm just really pleased with myself at the moment. For the record, my health, work, and personal life are all **** at the moment!

I'm with the Special Kid. I had one positive thing occur recently that involves art and persistence. But it's too specialized/personal to give details.
I'm also with Zippy - my positive thing was, as usual, outweighed by negatives.

I did better than I thought on my family law assignment; and got all my schoolwork for the week done, so no actual homework except organizing my real estate file to hand in on friday. :)

Maybe I am far too cynical, but I find "share something positive that happened to you in the last two weeks" far too assuming ... and I would be highly suspicious of anyone suggesting that as a topic for people seeking "support" within a group of their peers.

There are some things that have *pleased* me in recent weeks, and it was certainly nice when the telephone company got my connection (including my DSL!) working again within just a couple of hours yesterday afternoon. But if you are being expected to "produce something positive" in order to be able to feel like you are part of something there and being "supported", I would likely find the dues too high and would want to "follow the money" and see what was really going on.

Well, I think it was a reasonable request, and I did try to look for something, however small, but just came up empty. When I feel stuck as I do now, I have no desire to share in a group. So I did not go. It makes me wonder if support groups will ever be of use to me. I cannot get "unstuck" on my own or by asking others for help. Where does that leave me?

On Friday I bought a box set of six romantic comedy DVDs for £15 on Amazon (they would be £50 from a shop).

Try thinking of something small like that. Saving £35 is positive for me, and so is the fact that I now have some of my favourite films on DVD so I can watch them whenever I want.

I've been cleaning my apartment more often. That's a good thing. :)

If there was anything good, it must be something to do with the buying or selling of books. In the morning, it is snowing this isn't a good thing.

I've recently had my order for a CD arrive at Chapters, a week and a half, ago. It has a lot of good songs on it, in my opinion. 8)

I played a game of frisbee yesterday and I've been happier lately overall, lol.
Oh, I also applied for supplemental security income (ssi) yesterday, we'll see how that goes.
