So yeah, I have the urge to have a monstrous violent fit and smash something with my fist, and it is my fault for being a goddamn FAILURE.

I am supposedly smart, in the top 2%...and I can't write a f*****g essay to save my life. Little Ms ASD-mutant with the lovely attention to detail and high verbal acuity can't write a freaking essay. I wouldn't mind if it was due to my own laziness, but I have been working really hard at this.

And I just took out my pissed off mood by drinking a ton of Red Bull, which is driving my already agitated adrenals crazy. Yay. Stupid me.

All the best writers do a line before they write their lines ....

What's your subject and what do you know about it?

Write your answer as a long WP post (or several) for the rest of us to read, then edit. :D Just tell it as a stream of thought.

If you don't do it as a MUST DO project, maybe that will take the pressure off. I have the hardest time writing when I feel I have to. It's like instant Writer's Block. :(

Hang in there, MG! I'm hoping you can eventually power through it!

Thanks for kind words, everyone. I'm just going to take it easy and go back to it tomorrow. Forcing myself to concentrate was getting me nowhere and driving me into "nuclear reactor meltdown" mode.

My subject is natural sciences :)

I am a bit wary of doing that because they've sophisticated programs to detect plagiarism or use of outside help, and the text might be found and recognized as mine...Thank you for offering though. *hugs*

Everyone gets writer's block sometimes, don't beat yourself up about it :)

I find, if I have to write an essay, it helps to type up a really crappy rough draft, without structure or proper grammer- sometimes even just bullet points- and then go for a walk and come abck to it later.

Getting the main facts and points down on screen is the main thing; everything else is just editing and punctuation when you think about it.

I really recommend avoiding the red-bulls. One's good the night before last-minute revision, or morning of an exam, but for essays you don't want your head buzzing.

Yes, the trick is to just start writing things down and don't worry about structure yet. It's all in the rewrite anyway, they say. You just need something to work with. When I used to paint I had blank canvas syndrome, similar to white page syndrome. An artist told me once he got past that by just flinging some paint on the canvas and then he could begin.

I had this problem too, and it's meltdown territory! Good vocabulary, but what if I don't know what to say or don't want to say anything? At about your age I had to do essays for college entrance and these gave me a lot of trouble. It wasn't until about my junior year that I gained the ability to write multipage papers.

Caffeine is good, but only if you can get a start otherwise you may make things worse with it. Same with anger? Ren derives some of his abilities from his anger and he says "I love being angry!"

I would always make crappy essays. :)
I made a block of information, then I would hew a few paragraphs out of it, shuffle them into an appropriate order and finally carve them into something that looked like what a human would write.

Finally got it done, yay. I think half my problem was getting worried and stressed over it.

That's often the case.
