My first day at the office was really quite a disaster, but I won't go into that; what was interesting was the female worker there.

By all accounts should could be the best woman I have ever met: or perhaps many women are like that, and I would realize this if I actually met women on a frequent basis.

Physically she is dark-haired, lithe, of a handsome countenance and sexually attractive.

She is totally cool and normal: an extrovert, confident on the phone, very friendly, bubbly, laughs and smiles and talks in a jovial Scottish accent, and YET - here is the amazing thing - she is an IT expert! More so than me! You can imagine how shocked I was to see a woman - who is by all accounts extremely trendy and very normal, if not above normal - being so knowledgeable about such a geeky subject!

Not only that but she smokes; and I have long held the opinion that sexually attractive women become even more sexy when they pop a cig in their mouths and draw in a lungful of smoke. I love to watch the long fingers gingerly gripping the white shaft of the cigarette, and the sweet, soft lips wrapped around the browny-orange filter.

All things considered, I came to realize that I am subhuman. This realization of intense inferiority always creeps up on me when I am in the presence of others. She even made me coffee; and all I did was sit on my fat ass all day long and hallucinate.

She sounds like a beautiful person.
Sorry I am focusing on something else.
Your avatar is painted by an artist who was dreadfully afraid of cats
and hallucinated and as he hallucinated more he painted cats in increasingly
baroque or playing card like style to cover up their scareyness, is that true?
I don't know how I got this idea.
I must have read a book about a related topic a long time ago.
edit:Do you know the name of the artist?

Oooooh, no you're not sub human! it's difficult. I struggle with this, too. I am thinking right now maybe her extrovertedness is a good match for your introvertedness (you seem to be, from what you said.)

Above normal?
Sorry, the phrase just tickles me.

Yes, women who smoke are so sexy, especially when at the age of 45 they look 65...

Seems like there are some repressed urges going there.

No, I need to stop coming on the love part of this forum, I never have anything to contribute...

Well, she doesn't sound like my type so you will have no competition from me and therefore no reason for me to tell you to abandon hope. Go for it. :wtg:

It's true, they do age a lot faster, and what a shame! I've seen it contribute to the ruin of people. Unlike my avatar I don't smoke.

I would be gutted if a guy upon first meeting me assumed that he was inferior to me. A decent woman will treat you like an equal.
You've only just met, so try not to let your imagination run away with you, because I've done that and been totally devastated when it didn't work out, but it sounds like you have something in common that you can both talk about, which is great:) Just spend time talking to her and let her get to know you.

Happens all the time. One of the reasons I've never decided to go for the bookish looking girl in the coffee shop - usually most of my values would be counterclockwise to hers anyway but also, a lot of bar/club girls will surprise you.

It only took a few days in the office to become disillusioned with her. She's totally superficial. Oh, and she stopped even making me coffee a couple days ago and isn't interested in saying anything much to me any more.

The employers have basically left me alone to do nearly impossible tasks - I don't want to be here and they don't want me here - so I managed to blow everything in precisely five working days.

I won't be going back there and instead I'll be reaching for the pills and possibly a nice big overdose ....

Any possibility that what you saw in the last few days had nothing to do with anything you concretely 'did'? These things typically just happen and, I've definitely known people to be hot and cold socially speaking - doesn't mean a lot unless perhaps you read too much in up front or perhaps if she read too much in up front.

Did you go back? I hope so. The first few days of a job are always hard, for everybody. That's just a fact. And if you do go back, why not try making HER some coffee? Somehow I get the impression that you did not do that ... correct me if I'm wrong, but that might be a clue to why she stopped making it for you. People like their kind deeds to be reciprocated.

Forgive me if I have the wrong impression here. I was kept awake for hours by burglar alarms after a power cut and could use some coffee myself!!

If my friends were to chime in on this (I'm thinking more and more that they're right), you lost her because you had 'intelligent' conversation with her. Its the best way around to repel women, make friends, and look 'nice'. Pretty much significantly all of them - on the full span of intellect - need a guy to show interest on a sexual level, not on an intellectual level, to actually break the ice in that way. If she got salty with you, its possible that she may have even felt burned that you didn't want her enough to do so (*may have*, I don't know your particular situation but its happened to me a lot that it went nowhere and then they got real salty toward me within a few weeks).
