Last night the 8 year old fell off a ride and skinned her knee. I thought she was crying since the ride was scary but dad snapped at me SHE FELL! I still laughed that's my coping mechanism I guess. :-( Today I got a call the 10 year old wasn't at the School Bible Club so I worried either A) on campus where she ISN'T supposed to be OR snatched up by a stranger) I walked to the school (about 10min. walk from home) and asked for her over the intercom. She was in her SGA (Student Government Association) thing which is on Fridays once a month (or she said something like that). They had just let out and she was going off to Bible Club. I said ok see you later. On the way home I was in tears since my first immediate thought was something bad. :-( Mom called as I was on my way home and asked why I didn't call her I didn't since I knew she would be upset/worried (She'd I know be in a yelling state of OMG where WERE YOU! to the 10 year old) So I decided to be the adult and take matters into my own hands as the older sister. Mom said she knew she had SGA and I should have called. She laughed it off ah you shouldn't have gone down there. But I was crying what IF something had happened (My mind jumps to worse case scenario) and I feel bad what's wrong with ME! The 8 year old falls (isn't seriously hurt) I laugh yet the unknown possibility of a stranger and such has me worried/upset. :-( (The 8 year old has had serious injury too busted lips and for those I was more concerned but still just stood off to the side showing no emotion.)

My mother in law always laughed if she or anyone else had a minor disaster. Some od them not so minor. My wife has the same thing. But she can break into tears over what someone might see as minor - including things where she had reason to be worried but it turens out to be okay.

I react differently - but that is her pattern.

So you are not unique - lots of patterns. In the same places A might get mad, B cry, C laugh, etc.

When I first realized they were laughing in that pattern, it was strange [no one in my family did. But I know others.
