I'm stuck again. My productivity has gone down.

I talked to my doctor on the phone a couple of days ago (so I could get refills). I didn't mention my anxiety because I wasn't up to trying something new. Also I will be seeing him in person in two weeks. I swear we have tried EVERYTHING. I'm not sure what to do...it becomes so frustrating because there are things I must do. With my anxiety so high, I jump from thing to thing. Work 1 hour, get up.... reposition myself. Then I think about doing something else....I try to force myself to work but then I become distracted and I need my full concentration. I'm currently on Lexapro. It works wonder for depression but I'm worrying that maybe it makes my anxiety a little worse. I can't stop it though because it's hard to find things that work for me. I'm on the lowest dose.

It's not just a matter of just making a schedule or getting disciplined.....it's much more complex than that. I work with it daily so it's not just an excuse to go "play". My dad has high anxiety but he seems to do OK at work.....but outside his "bubble" things get him real nervous (vacations, etc).

I know that medications work differently on different people, but a woman I know who has anxiety (among other things) was on lexapro for awhile and had to stop taking it. She took to calling it,'Go go lexapro' as she could not stop moving or focus on anything while on it. My mother was also a ball of unfocused energy while on that particular drug. I would certainly mention this to your doc when you see him.

I hope things settle for you quickly. It can be awful when there are things to be done yet the internal things prevent that from happening. I wish you well.

I think I'm on twenty milligrams. I will have to look again. I might just break them in half and see what happens.
I just hope the depression doesn't come back. If it does, then I guess I will resume. Of course, I will keep my doctor in the loop.

Did the woman have asperger's as well?

Thanks.

No... neither of them are on the spectrum.

I do not envy you this. Getting medications to work right without side effects is a challenge. It is such stressful and body wrecking, delicate balancing act. I know when the balance is there then it is great... it is just that getting there can suck. It is good that you plan to keep the doc in on what is going on... people often do not do that. I am curious though, if you take anything for anxiety. Often docs will try to get the antidepressants going first to see how much that does for leveling a person and then later add an anti anxiety type med... at least that seems to be the trend where I am. The one lady, for example, takes antidepressants in combination with seroquil and valium. I think they threw xanax in the mix for my mom eventually. Normally I am all anti meds for myself as I do not personally react well to them, but I have seen people really benefit from some of them and even though the earlier stages of it all can be terrible. I do hope this gets worked out for you soon.

I have tired serequel, buspar, depakote, and various benzos.

Nothing positive or negative for: serequel, buspar, depakote

Benzos kinda make me tired. You have to take more and more because they loose effectiveness.

My doctor is very careful with medications that can be abused. He never let me try Xanax...I hear that helps some people.

I've tried "natural" stuff too (Kava Kava, teas etc)...I never noticed a difference with those.

Thanks again.
