I've got a rather frustrating friend who is an undiagnosed AS case has gotten me to thinking about the differences between AS cases.

This kid I know, probably does the same s**t I do but try to hide. He stares off into space, he does this one thing where he goes "yeayeayyeayya" very flippantly anytime I try to tell him something to help him better his place in the world. I'm not the only person he does this to either.

It's a lot like the Chris Rock sketch of "Black People vs. N*****s".

I love aspies but I can't stand spergs.

grrrrrrrrr

You can't force people to do what's best. Let him know that you're there if he needs advice, and then let him make his own mistakes.

Yes, but you're still friends with him. That's a start.

Yes I am. I actually like him quite a bit. I only want to help him "play the game" (social skills/work skills) better.

I remember when someone here saw me in the same light, without even knowing me personally and knowing how I really act. He thought that it would be a great idea to teach me the social game, because I kept posting about a special interest that I had around this time, 4 years ago. I didn't want help, I wanted friendship and companionship. If I wanted help, I would have asked for it. The ironic thing is that I wasn't as low functioning as he thought I was. I don't wish to name names or special interests in this post. If he wants help, that's fine but if he doesn't want help, accept him the way that he is.
