I'm very much like a dog in the fact that I'm a very loyal and faithful friend and once you have my trust, even if you abuse it later on, you have it forever

is this a good thing? because im too inexperienced with friendships to tell

You're being hard on yourself King if you compare with a dog. You shouldn't have that view. If somebody abuses you, you shouldn't maintain the same level of trust, as they have proven themselves unworthy. You can still maintain a relationship with them but be aware of where they stand. :)

These people are not your friends. Maybe you should ask yourself why you even spend time with them.

Fortunately I never really had this problem. I'm fine being alone. Give me a book and I can ignore just about anything. That and I have an over developed sense of right and wrong, which means I will make noise if someone is being mistreated.

My mom gets on me about my antisocialness by saying "What are you an animal?! Even animal like people!" She's always referring to the four small but dumb dogs in our house. :P

I've always tied that trait together with willingness to do volunteer work/help others out - something you have in abundance, from what you've said. It's something of a package deal, for better or worse.

You probably do have some kind of mental block that prevents you from doing something about them. If you can figure why you have the mental block, then the rest will be easy. Could be that you feel that you are incapable of doing anything about them. Could be a fear of what would happen if you did. If you can identify the cause of the mental block then you can decide what to do about it.

The most important thing is have faith in yourself. People are too hard on themselves for not standing up to someone or any other thing in their life. Being too hard just feeds the mental block and make it worse. If you do not stand up to them today, then say to yourself "That is alright, I will figure out the problem and try again". It may take a while to get the point where you do something, but then you feel good about yourself for doing it.

As far as girlfriends are concern, join the group of people who thought they would never have one. Let alone marriage and spending the rest of their life with that girlfriend. I can count on one hand the number of girlfriends I have had in my life. It was not easy. But it will be worth the wait when you do find a girlfriend and spend the rest of your life with them (a even scary thought than thinking you will never find a girlfriend :P)

Just be yourself when trying to find a girlfriend. If the girlfriend is right for you, they will accept you as you are right now. If you try to be what you think they want in a person then you will lose the girlfriend when they find out who you really are. Being dishonest is not a good basis for any kind of relationship.

Just my thoughts :)
