A message of good cheer and motivation to confused Aspies
Hello everyone.
As an on and off sufferer of depression, I am sure I can relate on some level with just how frightening and unpredictable life feels for many Aspies, in particular young adults and teenagers.
I for one get terrified of my thoughts and the ways they can latch on obsessively to things that can frighten the heck out of me and make me feel guilty. I can find it difficult to cope with the unpredictable nature of talking to people especially when my mind is racing and I feel restless and anxious.
I struggle immensely to want to do anything... and for a while now I haven't, and still haven't.
However though - I think it is nice to feel what I have been feeling just very recently... this is a feeling of content with how I can just simply feel whatever I want and I think that is one of the potentially beautiful things about life - everyone is their own unique individual and we can blend and mash all of our beliefs and what we wish to feel, and it does not make it wrong at all.
We can feel whatever... we can be experimental and we can just blend all our feelings and beliefs, and find our own truths. We can feel at peace if we accept everything about ourselves but also to acknowledge our fears and phobias... we are not at fault for having fears, and we are not weak for our anxieties.
Sometimes i get scared of sounds that are not mine, or not calming natural sounds when i feel imbalanced, so this level of anxiety happens, but it does NOT mean you will always feel this way.
The stage of school and college, or just after is a difficult one; we may well be struggling to balance ourselves after such a crazy and chaotic time where some people are quite frankly ridiculous in their ways of bullying and stupidity, or the simple innocent fact that we cannot easily relate to those around us, especially as such an age.
I have recently regained confidence, although I may well lose confidence again - we can lose confidence and regain it, and lose it again, but fear not.
x Life is long... sometimes difficult, sometimes quite pleasant.
My own experiences that make me so depressed sometimes is powerful obsessions. I think I have pure o OCD... this is a difficult disorder to wrap my head around and i know that it sometimes takes Aspies a little longer to adapt and feel safe in certain environments, depending on circumstances of mood and maybe complexities such as past problems with such experiences.
Sit back for a moment... count some of your blessings, however small. Find creative ways to cope and to even enjoy whilst coping. Me? I listen to relaxing dolphin sounds and dolphin meditation music on youtube recently, and it's so very peaceful and can fill me with such joy.
I love watching comedy videos and laughing hysterically.
I get down sure... I get very depressed and thoughts can race so much. I can get very lonely - it can happen but all this is reversible with a balanced mind or space in the mind... allowing yourself to breathe.
x
Everyone here deserves peace and happiness in their lives. It is not necessarily a simple matter of shifting focus all the time because the worries and pain is still there I understand that it's not easy to put these things away or behind us... but we can change how many things we like doing and we can find our own creative ways to do things and to cope - the possibilities are endless with the mind.
*Big hug for everyone here*

At this moment in time, I feel relaxed and when looking at the bigger picture, it's possible to actually "feel" the reasons why Asperger Syndrome is good in many ways.
I like having Asperger Syndrome; granted at times it's relentless and difficult, and hurts, but there are MANY good qualities about it that are good, interesting and valuable. ![]()

I appreciate the good vibes you are sending out into the forums, it's nice to be reminded that even with our particular challenges things can be good.
It's easy me to come to WP when things aren't going so well and find people to commiserate, but it's a thoughtful gesture to try and offer hope to folks when you' re not down in the dumps yourself.

Totally agree.
As one who has come out of depression myself in the past 2 months, it feels to me like a massive weight that has really restricted my life has been lifted, and I feel much more able to be myself.
For those who are currently depressed. Change doesn't happen overnight, and it may take a long time until things start to pick up, but they do eventually and you'll be glad you made it through. You may not see the good things in life, and it's extremely difficult to see it, but, and perhaps it will require a little effort from yourself, things will improve and you will start to see life for what it should be.

Thank you for the cheery message, samtoo. And the dolphin-cam. Better than the aquarium! Hope your day was peaceful and joyful as well.

Yes. Over this past year or so, I have come to a similar/same conclusion: Whatever I feel is whatever I feel and I do not have to feel bad about that or keep trying to feel like somebody else might think I should.
