I just received bad news, my grandmother is dying

Well I don't quite know how quite to put more but I was informed by my sister this morning that my grandmother is on her final days and going to die by the end of the week. I feel rather depressed yet I am unable to cry I don't know why. Sometimes I wish I could cry but I am unable to in these situations. I love my grandmother very much for she is the last grandparent of mine alive and now she is going to die.

Is there a realistic way for you to get to your grandmother's location to spend a little bit of time with her? And remember, even during difficult times, to also leave some alone time for yourself if possible.

PS I sometimes cannot cry either. Or it comes later at unexpected times, and that's okay, too.

Even though they know she will probably die, do they try to grasp at the straws to keep her alive. I don't like the idea of giving up. I think miracles happen. You should call emergency and ask doctors to do everything they possibly can to increase the likelihood of her surviving, however unlikely that might be.

I wish to visit her a few days more but unfortunately she lives in another state and i do not have the money to see her i might have the money to go to her funeral but i need to get a passport etc her funeral is going to be in Victoria, B.C. Canada. I will try to call her or if that does not work I will have my sister pass the message that I love her very much.

When I lived in Vermont, I could drive to Montreal with just a driver's license. I think I did this as recently as 2005.

But it might be different as a passenger on a plane. And post-911, I think they do tighten the border and increase requirements from time to time.

I'm sorry to hear that. Losing a grandmother can be very painful.

crossing the canadian/us border now requires a passport. it typically takes 4--6 weeks to receive one, although i received my in 3. you can pay an additional charge to rush it and get it much sooner.

i don't know if you've done it before, but i have found that the simplest way to get to that part of vancouver island is to drive up to port angeles and take the blackball ferry line over to victoria. it's between 50--60 usd (sorry if this is all old news to you).

I don't know if my sister will make it either but if she does when i cannot i hope she passes the message that i love my grandma so much it is just horrible news she is dying sooner than expected I almost had a meltdown today because of it but things will get better. If there is an afterlife hopefully I will see her there.

i'm sorry to hear the bad news. i didn't cry either when my grandfather passed away. i cared for him a lot, but my lack of tears was in no way a reflection of not caring for him, and i'm sure it's the same in your situation.

Thanks for the support guys and yes I will miss her very much I had alot of good memories with her. It will not be easy for me to get over for awhile but I must move forward because I think that is what she would want me to do. I was her favorite grandson and have made her proud. If there is such thing as an afterlife or alternate dimension or reincarnation I hope she is in a better place. These are one of those times I wish I could be an NT for a few days so I can shed tears and morn properly but it is impossible to change what I am. I do feel deep pain in my heart though.

Sorry for the double post there was lag on my end and I didn't think it went through. I just got an update and it is good news my grandmother is doing a bit better and was released from the hospital. She stated it is not yet her time. I feel great relief now I can talk to my grandma more. I guess miracles do happen.
