2016 - Annus horribilis

This year will go down in infamy for our little family (and it's not even over, yet!) So far, 2016 has been an "annus horribilis" (horrible year.) I call it "anus horribilis" (pain in the @$$ year.) It's been one disastrous health issue after another; my husband injured his shoulder at work, I dislocated my right kneecap, we both suffered from bad food poisoning, we both contracted whopping cough, one of our cat fell and seriously injured her leg last Monday, and now our other cat is coming down with some sort of bronchitis (she's been coughing and gurgling). We have to take both kitty in at the vet this upcoming Monday. Last Wednesday, I had a really bad meltdown (I hadn't had one in years.) I was a mess when hubby came home. I managed to snap out of it... Both my fur-babies need their momma to take charge and look after them. Right now, I am exhausted physically, mentally and emotionally. I feel like a walking zombie. Will the proverbial $h!T ever stop hitting the fan? Sorry for venting, guys... I just feel so drained and empty at the moment.

Thanks for the hugs, (((Noca))). Yeah... It's been a doozey, alright. I hope things settle down soon... I'm at the end of my tether.

I'm sorry all of this has happened to you. But you must know there's no such a thing as "annus horribilis" and it's not that everything goes wrong. It's human mind: we tend to associate things together. When something is wrong, or our mental state is down, then everything looks bigger. And it is also more likely that new things happen. Just let it pass, wait a little, don't think too much, don't believe there's more going to happen. It's just a coincidence. I'll go away faster if you believe that now things will go fine.

Thanks Whispers. I'm trying to keep positive and strong, but all these setbacks have been taking their toll on my husband and I. We do have a 3 weeks holiday planed for the first week of September, and we both hope that by then, everyone and everything will be hunky-dory. A very welcome relief for all of us (human and feline alike.)

All I can say is that the bad times (especially in succession) usually indicate something really good around the corner. You just need to hold on long enough to get there! Big e-hug!

Hey, just checking in to see if things have turned around

Hey MsV! Sorry I took a while to respond... Been out-of-my-mind busy (in a good way, though). My kitty cats are back to normal, all happy, healthy, and back to their rambunctious selves. As it stands, my husband and I will finally be able to go on our much needed holiday in September. I think we may have broken the streak of bad luck!
