The church was great! I really liked how he preached to everybody and not just those who shared his religion. He was very ecumenical. Of course he preached the Gospel, but he did it in a way that can apply to everybody. Be good to others more than be this religion. I thoroughly enjoyed it, even if it was a long time. I honestly want to go back and hear him talk some more, and that's saying a lot from me. I don't dislike Christianity at all, in fact I love a good Catholic Mass but usually the Protestant ministers down here tend to be a little overbearing. By down here, I mean in this town, I've heard some wonderful sermons in Birmingham churches. There are so many legalistic people here that it tends to overshadow everything.
I'm not changing religious beliefs, but I am so going back to it because it was such a very motivational and uplifting talk! He was almost like a combination of motivational speaker, therapist, and cheerleader all at once. He made you want to do nice things for people and treat them nice. And the shouting was very much of a pep rally type thing, where (it seemed to me) that the more people hollered it, the more electric and excited the crowd grew and I even did it a few times. The lady sitting be side me that I barely know even patted me on the back when I did. She wasn't offended. (It's a small town, everybody knows my beliefs).
I knew him as the security guard and the cashier at the store. Now I see him in a whole new light.
