I wish I could look my parents in the eye.
I've had trouble looking people in the eye when talking to them since I was in kindergarten. My kindergarten teacher once stopped my mum on our way home to tell her she that she noticed that I never looked anyone in the eye, but my parents just dismissed it as me being shy. Now, I'm in university and it's still a huge problem. I can look my siblings in the eye when I talk to them for a while because I trust them, but I can't look my parents in the eye at all. It's causing such a strain on our relationship because I can't talk to them. I just give short replies while looking over their shoulder and scuttle away, and if I do look them in the eye, I end up giving a glassy eyed stare for a brief period before looking away because I can't do "normal eye contact", and I'm scared of getting scolded again if I don't make appropriate eye contact when talking to them.
I wish I could look my parents in the eye. It hurts almost physically to make prolonged eye contact but I just want to have a normal conversation with them like my siblings do. My Dad once said that sometimes he's worried that I'm autistic, but the way he said it sounded like he thought it was such a horrible thing to have autism that I never told him that I believe I have asperger's.
I just wanted to say this, because I do love my parents, but I don't think they know that, and I can't tell them so in a way that they'll understand and sometimes it makes me sad.

Me, I have the same problem both figuratively and literally. But it goes much deeper than that for me; so I can see where you are getting at.
I get this feeling that my parents....... well, I've discussed that before, haven't i?

Can't you still talk to them without looking them in the eye? Can you still look at their faces or something they have on as you talk to them?
I don't see why we all should look people in the eye.
