Since I was younger, I have always felt misundersttod. I have been bullied, and mistreated. This always happened to me for being the odd one out. I have plenty of challenges in my life. A few of them are:, making friends, Gross moror skills, sports, exercise, schedule changes, understanding figurative language, sarcam and my emotions. I also have trouble expressing my emotions in an appropriate manner, reading body language, faqcial expressions and cues. In conversation I have troubke with eye contact, letting others speaks and knowing what to say often leading to telling people too much information.

Now I am a 21 year old female attending a Life skills class. In Life skills we were talking about what we have experienced during middle, high school and college. Believe me, I was intelligent and bright. >y favorite school subjects were in English and history. As a female with asperger syndrome though it is typical for us to wenjoy readoing and writing. I have also always had good grades in school. My only set back was earning an Individualized Educational Diploma while attending a special educational General Equivalency Diploma study class. I also earned a Childhood Education certificate. I was always earning honor rolls in school too. After I graduated high school I started attending Community College. I recently graduated from there in May 2012. Now I am attending University of Phoenix online for a Bachelors degree in English, eventually I either want to be a gen ed or special education teacher, journalist or public relations worker. I want to achieve things in life. I want to get a good paying job while I attend Phoenix online.

Lately I have been having drawbacks though. I have been feeling very depressed recently for a few reasons. One reason why I am depressed is because I'm scared I will not acheive anything in life such as a good paying job, nice family or home in the future because of the Asperger syndrome. Another I am feeling depressed is because I am scared of people misjudging mme because of my disability. People are not educated about asperger syndromemuch, so isn';t my mom. Since the Newton shooting people have been blaming that guy's asperger syndrome as the reason he killed those innocent childrenn. My mom agrees with this because she said people with asperger syndrome can snap at any moment. I feel offended by this because sometimes we just have trouble expressing our emotions but we would not hurt a fly even if we do have a hard tiome expresing our emotions. That was one of the topics we had in life skills today. The other topic also made me depressed because looked through all these years, and remember how many times I have been hurt, bullied or set back because of the asperger syndrome and people's misunderstanding of it.

Why can;t people be educated and understand more about it. If the world were more educated about asperger syndrome and autism people would not be as cruel to people with it today, and they would obviously be able to understand people. OIIf people were more educated they would know that yes we have problems in the social skills, communication areas but we are just like everybody else. We know we there are consequences to our behaviors why punish us more by labeling us mentally ill. We are just individual humans just like other people. No one is perfect. Why can';t people accept that?

I can totally relate. For me, life improved in time but I had to learn how to communicate more effectively.

These are great accomplishments and goals you have set for yourself! Keep working. You are still young and you seem to have the determination to be able to achieve your goals. Patience, patience.

Honestly, at your age, your feelings are pretty normal - despite the Aspergers. You have your whole life ahead of you and you seem very organized. Your depression will come and go but the fear is the drive you need to keep pushing yourself forward.

Feel free to share your story. I know an adult woman in the spectrum. She didnt have a very good reputation AT ALL until she openly expressed her ASD. Now, people understand her better and aren't so quick to pass judgement. I'm not suggesting for you to announce your private self to the world. It wouldn't hurt to share it with those in your inner circle, so they can become your support system.

Because most people don't feel it necessary. Would you educate yourself about transgender.. or maybe a new language - just because? Probably not, unless of course, you have a family/friend/aquaintance who is transgender or are planning on travelling to a specific country.

Surprisingly, at the very least, that's what most people know about this condition.

At the end of the day, you can not change the world over night. So, do your part - focus on your goals. Connect others by sharing your story. The more distant you are, the more they will misunderstand you.
