HI all,
I could really use some support. For a little background, I a autistic, blind and have psychiatric conditions. I function at quite a low level due to the combination of these disabilities, including severe overload issues, executive dysfunction, etc. I was institutionalized in 2007 in a psychiatric crisis, and have spent about 16 months on a locked ward, then four years on my current resocialization ward. The hed nurse contacte dpretty much every support organization in the province, but always got back t hat they are not suitable for me. I am not intellectually disabled (not that I'd mind living with those who are), which means I'm presumed to be quite capable, which I am not. Anyway, in late 2012 my husband wanted us badly to go live together, so I accepted housing. My husband however is a student and trying to get into full-time employment, which means he won't be able tsuppor tme during the day. Besides, he's told me that if I get worse than I am now, he won't be able to cope.

I myself badly want therapy for the co-existing psychiatric condition, which reuires quite specialist servies. I foudn a therapist myself who is willing to take me, but she advised against me going ot live togehter with my husband right away. Now the institution is saying they want to know when I'll be leaving this ward, because as I said it's for resocialization. So I can't stay here whilst starting up therapy (therapy for this can be quite destabilizing at first). My current therapis thas mentione d alonger-term ward in a twon near where my husband lives, but I wonder if that would be this easy why didn't they transfer me there years ago? Okay, my husband didn't live there at the time, but I men, I've always wanted a place that's more long-term, and I realize tht autism agencies can't likely provide me the right support (I was on a waiting list for one for a year, but they ended up turning me down because there's too little support).

ON top of all this, my ward moved to a new building in September, and is going to move again in May. This means if I do end up being moved to the longer-term ward, three moves in a short time, or four if I'm going to move out an dlive with husband.

I hate it that, for people with intellectual disabilities, there are all these services, but if you happen to have a high IQ, you're supposed to be capable. If this just isn't true, then you maybe need to jus tnot exist. It all makes me so depressed. I did everything myself ot find a therapist for my mental health needs, took tne initiative to accept the partmetn because I'd gotten sick of "there'sno alterntive", but now I'm stuck hre and not getting hte supports I need, and not antime soon either.

Not sure what my point is. Badly want support, but not sure I can get it here.
