I don't normally let things get to me like this. I'm normally able to shrug most everything off from school, to failing at women, hell I could even shrug off getting molested. But it's not working anymore I can't just keep putting away my issues it's time I faced them, but there is a problem with this: there are to many issues. First off there is the girl. I am tired of talking about it so if you want to know the situation just read pretty much any of my previous posts. For those of you up to date, I can't get her out of my head, she's clawing into my brain and completely unintentionally. She's the perfect girl, but we have now way of ever being together. Secondly there is school which if I don't pull my ass in gear I wont be able to transfer to a bigger better college. Then there is just life in my hometown, a boring backwater town where the biggest news is when someone commits suicide in a brutal way. If I don't deal with these issues then I'll suffer a complete psychotic and mental breakdown, and if I try to deal with them then the exact same thing may happen! Don't suggest therapy as I am already getting counseled, and am currently on medication for depression. Neither seem to be helping me, the therapy helps a little, but not much, and the drugs just flat out don't work at all. I am sometimes able to numb the pain with weed and alcohol, but these are just temporary, and I am cautious on alcohol since addiction is common in my family. God it feels good just to vent, but (and no offense to anyone on here) I doubt I'll get the proper advice from this site. Is there anyway out? Is there a place for me on this Earth? Will she ever want to go out with me? And, the coup de gra, will I ever be happy?

You will be happy again. Life is hard and school is harder and takes crazy work (and some help). Stay with it. This will pass in time.

I do encourage you not to do alcohol while on anti-depressants, as that combination is known to make the depression worse. It also "flattens" a persons personality and can cause greater sedation.

There is also some research that marijuana and anti-depressant can also lead to increased depression and anxiety.

These can be VERY dangerous if the anti-depressant is of the MAOI drug class.

Does your prescribing doctor know about your use of weed and alcohol while on medications?

It's just abilify and lexipro no serious antidepressants. My doctor knows of my use of weed after all he wrote me the referral. I don't use alcohol in excess maybe a beer or a shot a night and I haven't drunk in the past two weeks.

It's good to know there are some sympathetic people out there. Today at school I saw someone approach and talk to a random person purely on the fact that they looked depressed.

Thanks.

Even a single beer at night can have a significant effect on me. I especially seem to have problems with caffeine when on Lexapro. So I take Vyvanse in stead, works much better  . I am rather severely ADHD and anxious though. I seem to be sensitive to everything. Not only will coffee give me a panic attack on these drugs, it also messes with my heart. Lately I have been worried if I have been getting low on magnesium due to some headaches and cramps I got. Diet is very important.

Therapy can take time, you have to learn to accept things and change your thinking. You're probably locked into somewhat circular thinking and you need to distance yourself from it. Even reminding yourself of your problems can be hurtful. Even if you don't feel like you have a hold of yourself, you can work on your problems, your work, and your responsibilities one at a time and it will get easier. Organizing is just making sure that you have enough time to do the things you commit to.
