Yesterday, my psychiatrist decided to put me on Tegretal. I am to take it twice a day, morning and night, so that means I took two doses so far.
I feel somewhat in a daze. Quite displaced. Somewhat disoriented. Not quite what I was expecting. I am hoping this passes as my body gets used to the new medication.
Why was I prescribed this? I already am taking quite a high dose of Risperdone, so they wanted to try me out on a seizure medication that is also commonly used as a mood stabilizer. Lovely. If only the world of psychiatric medicine were a world of exact science, where the pieces that fit for one person fit for everyone else, things would be easier for me and a lot of other people. I guess this unpredictability keeps things interesting, for better or worse.
