I have a question.
As you may already know, I have a friend named Logan who has came to me crying for help, he's gotten addicted to heroine:

His dealer comes in sometimes, the dealer's name is Tommy. Tommy looks like a total pushover (he's a heroine addict). I know that I can help my friend by putting this dealer behind bars. Some people tell me that I shouldn't go that far, because it's dangerous. But honestly I'm not scared of this junkie. I don't doubt I could kick his ass with one hand behind my back, and without breaking a sweat.
My other friend Josh, who is also trying to help Logan out, and Josh's cousin works for the sherriff... I can't believe I of all people am considering working with the sherriff's department, but i am, because I want to help my friend. I figure if I get Tommy and his girlfriend arrested, Logan will have nowhere to get it from, and then I can get him to a methodome clinic. Everyone in my family keeps saying this is a bad idea, but to me this comes off as a test to see what kind of man I am. It's a test to see if I am man enough to do what is neccessary to help a friend in need. I can't just stand by and let him kill himself over this s**t..... Does anyone think this is a bad idea, for me to get Tommy and his skank-ass b***h put behind bars?
If you can accomplish your main goal (getting Logan clean) without making enemies, that's obviously the best way to do it. Sure, you could beat up the dealer, but then he could do something like come after you with a gun. You could try getting him arrested, but then he could have friends that would be willing to do him a favor if he ends up going to jail. Unless you know this guy really well, and by more than physical ability, I wouldn't recommend it.
If your friend has come to you asking for help, why can't you get him to rehab now, without involving the dealer?

Yes, I think it is because you should give him more of a chance because he might not be a bad person after all.

I wouldn't do it, and agree that it's fairly dangerous thing to do. I'd not so concerned about the guy getting out of jail, so much as I'd be concerned about his 'freinds' finding out and coming after you. Good luck at any rate, I've seen what heroin does to people, and it's a scary thing.

thats a bad situation, and knowing u are an addict and can do anything is worst, now,ur friend when he stops using it the withdrawal will suck big time and he can get into other drugs, the weak mind looks for drugs to mask reality,it happened to me once when i was younger.the only solution that i think it will work is keep him with company all the time and not let him do any drugs, keep him busy, handcuff him if u need to,heroin addiction is extreme(from what ive seen,i havent tried it)
now the dealer(its not the cause of your friend's addiction, but),if u throw him to the cops,it wont do anything,he will pay a bond(money for the state) and get out do it again, maybe get someone to kill you,the justice system works like that, they need these people to keep their pockets full, heroin comes from other countries and they dont go after them, they go after the small dealers in the neirborhood,so the only way to get rid of them is killing them, because really if u tell them to stop they wont stop, they help the government make people dumb and are no help to society.

He has to WANT to quit before you can really help him. Get him checked into rehab or at least to some NA meetings. If he can kick it without methadone more power to him, methadone can become difficult to quit itself. Try http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/ for more info, I also post there.
Don't try to stop the dealer, there is always a source. Where there is an addict, there's a way.
Yeah I suppose your right. I'm definately not getting involved with the dealer in any way. Logan drives a manty carlo, he has wheels, I do not. So I can't keep an eye on him all day, sad thing is I was discussing this with my friend (another friend) and a girl that works where logan and I do, (named Wendy) overheard us talking.... And I mentioned something about considering putting the dealer behind bars (which I wish I would not have). Wendy has a HUGE mouth too, she'll spread it all over pizza hut. And the dealer goes up there sometimes, so I'm gonna hafta make it VERY clear to logan that I want to help him, but I will not interfere with the dealer, I'd rather stay out of his way. Even if it means me disappearing from his support list (which I hope it doesn't).

Yeah this kind of s**t makes me wanna vomit, but your right. This was half the reason we sent troops into Nam and Korea back in the 60's, to create a smoke screen to send spec. forces in to overtake the opium fields, so the CIA could profit off of a heroine smuggling operation into our borders. It's sick. Then you look at companies like Nike, the very "christian" Wall Mart
