I've been working as a dog walker for 5 months now full time. I don't even know what to say. I'm not sure if this didn't work out because of my autism or because the dog walking industry turns out to be a little more demanding and darker than I had anticipated.
I feel numb right now and vulnerable. My brain is totally misfiring.
My decision to quit was was multifold . . . I've gotten an interview with the university library and think I have a shot, but if that doesn't happen it's back to retail.
However, what I take away from this experience is that . . . when something is commercialized it loses it's soul.

Quitting is better than getting fired.

I wish you the best of luck with the library, that's a job I wouldn't mind having myself.

I hope you get the library job, such a peaceful place to work. There would be so much responsibility caring for people's pets, maybe a more stressful job than people think.

It really is. Dogs are such a wildcard. And it's much more physical than I had anticipated and there are a lot of logistics - going from one location to another and having to make it for a certain time. I have a hard time processing this stuff. And she had me going up to 16 days without a day off. I can't handle that.
