What is the purpose of this place
I thought this is supposed to be a support site but I see people who are routinely ignored, attacked for voicing their views, trolled. People here post because things touch them in some way, I suspect in some way that has something to do with the special way we, as Aspies, view the world from a different edge of the cube than most people. It seems like 98% of the "support" here comes only from those who have similar ages or specialized interests. There seem to be people here who are just here to cause trouble, not to offer support. I see a lot of people here who I can tell are just reaching out to be noticed by someone, even if it is just from the instant that they post only one thing at a certain time that they are having trouble. Post after post after post with 0 comment. How many users here? Especially when someone is obviously crying out in emotional agony and have absolutely 0 responses (myself included). There are "cliques" here
I know that sometimes when I post here I don't even know I am posting, most often late at night, as I have DID in addition to other comorbidities. Maybe DID is my primary and AS is a comorbidity. I don't even know that I am using that term in its proper context. I only know that the majority of the time there is a post of mine here there is no attempt to reach out and understand. Is it to be my understanding that just the presence of this wall to scrawl upon is supposed to be a comfort and solace devoid of interaction beyond the peck pecking of my own fingernails upon the plastic keys of my machine? Maybe I should just start hammering nails into the walls of my apartment in the formation of letters to syllables to words and see if I wake up tomorrow and find a crater in the middle of my nail protrusions. Would that be my support system?
Hows that for a rant?
"There, there now, Sheldon's here"
I hope I haven't upsetted you in anyway. I agree with many points you bring up by the way. There's a couple users on here that I've memorized their username due to them constantly being rude, and every time I see them post, I immediately look over their comments because it serves no purpose than to belittle usually. Again, I hope I haven't been someone that has upsetted you or showed no support to you.
I am sorry to hear that you feel that way about the wrong planet. While I would say that the wrong planet is not perfect it is a more accepting place than the NT world I have to live in.

I am not a jigsaw, I am a free man ! Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

Yeah there is some undesirable behavior on here like people being rude and what not(i personally think sometimes things are allowed to go a bit too far in news and politics forum but I realize people can be very opinionated as well)...though about the posts without responses, there are numerous reasons for that...it doesn't nessisarily mean people are intentionally ignoring that person or no one cares, sometimes people cant think of anything to say to certain posts I know I have read posts that I either find confusing or have nothing useful to say pertaining to it....and then it also seems when someone posts something at an award hour it might end up on the second page with no responses and people end up not seeing it.
Also not sure if others have this problem...but the feature to see 'new posts since last login' has been giving me problems much of the time it says 'no threads fit search criteria' even though I know there are new threads I haven't read. Going to sections still sometimes shows new posts but half the time even then new posts aren't marked as new....so there could also be technical issues. I've also noticed sometimes the site will be pretty dead for a couple to a few days.

Thank for responses. Maybe I am just sulking or moping or what not. Yes, maybe I am one of those who go too far in politics so I have been try to not click on that forum lately. I know I am weak, obsessively for political debate and I can get trolled into OCD overdrive especially in that forum. It utterly exhausts me. Maybe I just need to learn to use the site properly, I am still a relative novice here.
The amount of posts in a section like this on most forums is crazy... a dozen a day on some or twice that. People often don't return to their topics to keep things rolling and instead make new ones, making it hard to really engage with the constant flow of topics burying topics. I would never be able to think up a hundred different consolations for a hundred problems a day to cover the forums I'm on, especially for the ones with no formatting that are extremely difficult to read.
I almost never see threads on WP that go without a response or two, though.
It's a shame you feel like that about WP. You got rotten apples in any community, even here on WP. Just try to ignore them(if possible). The people/rotten apple ratio seems to be lower here compared to most other communities though.
Some threads go by with no responses. I think that's mainly because they either have a very long/difficult to read post or people simply don't know how to respond to it.

for some reason my avatar vanished some time ago. yes, I also see things here that I simply don't know how to respond to, but I can still tell that they are posts from a person, who for that moment in time, is suffering tremendous emotion agony. My days are mostly dominated by that agony, but I think females are more sympathized with than males. Men are still supposed to "be strong and take it."
khaoz, I feel much the same as you do. I'm saddened when I see someone reaching out for help and not receiving many responses. I guess the important part is to express interest. In my case, I'm not very good with words at all, and I'll kind of mention that in my reply. Sometimes you just want to know that someone out there hears you and can relate to your experience.

No pressure. Just games.
^ Some of the negative people I've run into on WP are females. Maybe they have an axe to grind. Some people are just naturally negative anyway so I just try to avoid them as much as possible. I know who they are.

Well, in a negative light, that is what this website is in a nutshell. Nobody said WrongPlanet would be a utopia. However - for me at least - putting my thoughts on the internet is a great way to vent and relax, even if nobody else reads my posts. If you are really looking to make friends online, you might want to try a different website. Also, if you feel so annoyed by trolls that ignoring them doesn't help, you could always discuss the issue with a moderator.
I wouldn't worry too much if I posted something and nobody replied or even if I get flamed or trolled.
This is a forum for people that most likely have neurological disorders, so not getting a sympathetic response could be for a number of different reasons. I have Asperger's. Maybe I haven't expressed what I wanted to say in a fashion that invites others to speak to me. Maybe nobody understands what I'm droning on about.
With that in mind I certainly hope I haven't inadvertently offended anyone.
Khaoz, I think you're misunderstanding autistic people.
Autistic people are self contained people. I think it's fairly rare that autistic people even reach out to a website like this. People that talk here are just the tip of the iceberg.
Even when they're here though they're caught up with themselves and their own thoughts and issues.
It's just the nature of autistic people. They view the world in terms of themselves. Call it selfish if u want to be brutally honest.
You really shouldn't come to an autistic website if what you're after is attention. If you aren't going around showing an interest in everyone else why would anyone show you interest back. That's the way people see it. The people that will talk to you are the ones you yourself have replied to. Connections have to be formed if you want anything, you have to put work in.
Sorry to break that to you. Support site yes but if u want to get you have to give and autistic people often don't have the time right? Look inside and you will see the reasons people don't show u the interest you think you deserve. It's because of the way we are. We don't show interest in other people. We talk a good talk but we're largely self interested.
Use the site but remember it's full of people like you. Take a look at the page views if u want some comfort. The fact people people read your topic says a lot when you're dealing with a group of people that will quite often read but have nothing to say for themselves. There are a LOT more page views than comments. 267 page views so far.
Ps, look at me threads only work occasionally. Don't get offended if this doesn't work a second time. You shouldn't be looking for validation on the internet anyway.
Khaoz, you are making yourself emotionally vulnerable when you make a post about yourself and you find the experience uncomfortable. That might be why you're lashing out at others with this thread. Despite your perception that WP is a support group, not everyone feels bound by that perspective, except in the Haven where harshness is not allowed. The tagline below the logo says "online resource and community", not "support group". Aspies are notoriously bad at providing comfort to others. I can't tell from your username or avatar what gender you are, so I wouldn't blame the lack of comments on being male.
I respond to threads that say "please help" or ask a question, which lets me know the person is not just venting but is seriously looking to engage. Perhaps if you put a question in your subject line, or a sentence in your post that specifically asks for people to comment, you might get a bit more in terms of response if that's what is important to you. Also, remember the saying "To have a friend, be one"--respond to the despairing posts of others like yourself if you hope people will sympathize with yours.
