so last night me and my brother and some friends went camping for my brothers birthday...which went pretty well we all had fun and I stayed up latest and made sure to put the fire out before going to bed in the tent. Anyways kept feeling like there would be some sort of problem....and sure enough the park authorities showed up. Luckily it was just that we hadn't paid correctly we were supposed to put the entrance fee in one box and the camping fee in a box closer to the caming sites but we got that cleared up and there was no problem. Then we decided to go hang out in some open space that didn't have a fee to go in but we needed to get food to cook since we were hungry. So anyways it was a long night of camping I was up till like 4 in the morning and there was some drinking so I was rather out of it as well as some of the rest of us and so we kept having to run in and out of the grocery store(drivers were sober) and it looked suspicious so the store employees called the cops. Anyways we weren't doing anything wrong but they still had to stop us since they were called....and unfortunately one of the people we were with had a warrant which none of the rest of us knew about so he got arrested. My brother actually could have had a warrant to because he had a lightrail(public transit train privately owned) ticket that needed to be paid but just paid it a couple days ago, if he hadn't he would have got arrested to according to the cops there. But from his understanding there was no warrant and no chance of being arrested and he just had to pay the fee before getting his drivers license.

They weren't really jerks about it, but still I had a hard time not having anxiety shakes and such.....one of them even had a ridiculous baton that was like half the size of him. Store called in that we were a large potentially threatening group so maybe he was thinking it might become required to use. But whatever....anyways one cop wanted to search my bag and asked what I had in it so I said some clothes and a small amount of cannabis and she said not to worry about that since its legal now. But yeah four cars showed up....this time I wasn't the one looking wondering 'what is going on with the cops and those people' I was in the group being looked at by people wondering that exact same thing.

I suppose it was just rather stressful so I'd like to post about it and see if maybe people have had simular experiences...and my mom and boyfriend are fighting so something to do I guess.

Some people just don't like others having to much fun.
Sorry your fun got spoiled. the police is some of the worst party crashers there are.

Well one of them was sort of joking around with us...I mean it was awkward as hell but it was like most of the cops there were trying to be as considerate as possible even though it was a crappy situation, It could have ended up much worse. But yeah one person we were with I actually think he might have a more severe case of autism than me was kind of getting freaked out....(a store employee told him they were calling the cops) so I came out and he was nervous so I told him that we weren't doing anything wrong and if they come we'd just have to talk to them then he was worried they'd call his mom and tell her they stopped him...but he's 21 so they wouldn't do that. I just hope it didn't stress him out too much....its my brothers friend who I have known since they were in elementary school.

If there's one thing I've learned in life, it's avoid talking to cops whenever possible. There's no requirement for police officers to be smart or mentally stable people, and they can turn you into their plaything if you give them any leverage. And if you're in LAPD, CPD, Maricopa County, or NYPD territory it's best to avoid them altogether, because they will straight up kill people and plant evidence without a second thought.

We had no intention of running into them...but yeah most everyone was getting groceries, the dude buying lost his wallet and went out to search for it in the car that was loaded with camping stuff. I bought a phone card for me and one for my brother since I figured it was something for his birthday for our pay as you go phones, then went out and remembered I wanted water so went back in to get that and make sure everyone knew the wallet was lost or whatever and employees got suspicious because there were like 7 people and thought it was weird some of us had to go in and out. But yeah aside from ditching the groceries and speeding away which would have potentially got us all in trouble it was inevitable we had to talk to the cops.

I feel kind of lucky running into cops that weren't to quick to jump on intimidation or excessive force, still don't see why they sent like 4 cars and 5 cops. Just glad they didn't do a full search of everything since we had a rather large knife of my brothers for camping and some swords(pretty dull) my brother and his friend wanted for the renaissance fair. So I am sure they would have questioned us about those items and it would have taken much longer.

Some cops are OK, I was passing through a north central state before (Pennsylvania I do believe) and he gave me a ride to the other side of his county, and along the way he smoked me out, the only thing he wanted was for me to keep going. and one time I was in NY, and I was giving some err friends some mushrooms, a cop on horseback seen this and simply told me to keep it down and out of sight (although back then mushrooms were not illegal in NY). and I have been to countless parties were off duty cops came around to party just like everyone else.

but for the most part, try and be careful, even though not all police are a**holes, most are in fact just doing their jobs, but I have run across more then my share of bad apples.

next party like that you go to, make sure everyone brings everything they need, no more late night store runs.

This was not late at night, we were there earlier this afternoon because we went camping last night but still sort of wanted to hang out for a while so we were stopping by to get food on our way to where we were going to cook it and hang out. But next time its probably best if we are better prepared and don't have to keep running in and out. Cops next time might be the bad apples 8O and actually put the intimating looking baton, guns and tasers to use. They always take ID's right up front though so you're kinda stuck till they decide things have been cleared up and give it back.

I think the first cop who came figured we were just a wee bit partied out so it made sense we were just having a confusing hassle filled shopping trip...one of them I actually ran in before because last time I was suicidal and told my therapist instead of taking an ambulance to the ER they gave me a ride, but not sure they recognized me.

Well I talked to the first one who showed up for a couple of minutes, and then had to light a cigarette....so I'm all smoking a cigarette with my hand shaking and crap.

Cops always make me nervous as hell and I think they sense that, I think they discriminate against me because of how I look and my demeanor. I've dealt with abusive city cops most of my life but they're usually pretty busy and easy to avoid, now I live out here in Arizona and they'll harass me if they see me walking around past a certain time. In the last year they've stopped me 3 times, got searched and my picture taken twice, one of those times they actually drew a gun on me and my brother. I'm not worried about myself but I could easily see how these jackboots could beat or even kill someone like my brother who is mentally disabled. My dad hates cops, even my dearly departed 85 year old Grandma hated them, I grew up in the inner city where everybody hated them. I just try to avoid the police at all turns, I don't talk to them and try my best not to invite them into my life. It always ruins my day too, can ruin the next few days, it just makes me feel sick afterwards. I've dealt with some decent ones but they're definitely the minority in my experiences and in proximity to one that isn't.

You're lucky to live in Colorado, god knows what they'd do to you here if they found weed on you. The same folks that did Colorado and Washington want to legalize it the same way here in 2016 so I got my fingers crossed. Whenever I get really paranoid smoking or anything it's usually about the police or jail or whatever so I hope the inevitable legalization will alleviate that and maybe mellow these cops out. This is America not Iraq or Afghanistan, they've been militarizing the police in this country for years now.
