Had an argument in the car with husband today. Not about anything earth-shattering, just an argument as couples do. When we got home he started working on a project in the basement. Then I kept hearing loud banging as he was hitting the walls down there. DD started crying, so I took her to the park for a while. Came home and husband was sitting outside. Made sure he was done making a scene and went inside. After a while, looked out the window and he's gone. Didn't take a vehicle, so he must have walked off. I feel his behavior is childish and I refuse to go looking for him.
Please give me your most honest, blunt, ASD opinions about this situation. Thank you.

I think the argument really got to him. Maybe it wasn't just that though. Maybe he was stressed out about something else (which is also the most common trigger for random arguments), and your argument was just the last straw.
Then as for his behaviour, I would say that he wanted to be alone, and also he needed to get rid of a pent-up, hard to manage, emotions (hence the banging). He probably felt relieved when you went to the park, because it gave him time to think, but then I guess you came back "too early", so he had to leave to be able to finish thinking stuff through.

I would say let him do his thing and don't bother him until he's calmed down, and then hopefully you can talk it out.

He's back now but he's gone into the bedroom by himself. His clothes are dry so somehow he avoided the rain. I think he went to a shop, which is pretty impressive since we don't live in town.

My opinion is he went to blow off some steam. Did you feel like you were abandoned at all or have feelings of abandonment?
