... and already it's creeping back - the knowledge and the feeling that there is nothing on Earth that can stimulate natural serotonin production in my brain.
I can see the ugliness again - the cement and the garbage and the people who can't offer me anything. The pointlessness. The grind that killed my soul a long time ago.
I must pick up my prescription, another day and I will start self harming.
It makes me sad that there is nothing here to make me happy except chemicals. I'm sure there was a time when I didn't need them. Before the ugliness of human existence became apparent.

Why did you have to go off of it?

Those types of drugs scare me. I had a bad reaction to Prozac at 19 - never again.

I hope that you didn't just stop taking your Abilify. That can be risky.

Check out:

If the chemicals actually work, and the side effects don't make it worse instead of better...

...then TAKE THEM.

This planet can be HELL. If you find something that makes living here more possible, that's not a sin.

At least the chemicals make the voices and crazy obsessions go away, or at least stay under control. The tics stay suppressed too. And I can drive, a big thing in California. So yeah, I hate them, but they work. The link that Aspie Utah posted talks about Abilify working for a few months and then ceasing to work. That was my experience with Abilify. Only the benzodiazepene class of drugs take away the voices. I'm currently on Zyprexa (olanzapine). I haven't gained massive amounts of weight, a typical side effect with Zyprexa. People want to eat at McDonald's every day while taking it. I don't. Anyway, you MUST take the drugs without fail every single day or else you will go through nasty withdrawals.

If it affects you that severely what's the reason for discontinuation of the medication?

Just an oversight. I went to the pharmacy last night and got them. I feel much better today.

I must take them too. Sometimes because they are working I forget that I need them. But yeah, thank God there is something to help.
