feeling that your adopted cousin's son is your nephew?
My cousin was adopted to my family almost 10 years ago. 2 1/2 years ago, my adopted cousin's girlfriend gave birth to a healthy Neurotypical son. Since my Adopted Cousin is now my brother, which I mostly use cousin instead of his brother. Because I believed that calling him as a brother is wrong, and his son, is my nephew, because my cousin was adopted into my family, but I believed that his son is still my cousin, rather than nephew, because when I been told that I'm actually his uncle, but I denied his son as my nephew, but accepted him as a cousin. I also denied my adopted cousin my brother, but his cousin instead, because I believed that system is wrong, Because I believed that calling an adopted cousin a brother (which he's a boy by the way), and his son as my nephew wrong, because it's kind of similar to incest, but it's not, because I know what incest is, but this one is a intrafamily thing. I decided to keep calling my adopted cousin and his son, cousins. Because I think I'm not his uncle. Anyway, my sister is just recently got pregnant with a baby, which I accepted her son/daughter as my niece/nephew. Because she's my sister and my biological sister. So I congratulate myself to be an uncle.
As I called my Adopted Cousin's son as cousin, My mother gets mad at me that he's my nephew, not a cousin, but I denied it.
How could I tell my mother that I am not comfortable of being called an uncle by my adopted cousin's son, but accept him as a cousin instead. Because I believed that it's wrong. And I pulled sanctions against my parents because of that.
This is the diagram if people who doesn't understand the concept.

In my culture, my cousin's child is called niece or nephew by me, and they call me aunt, and cousin is called brother/sister. It doesn't matter how the number of cousin like first, second, third, etc, all are called at sibling level. My father calls his cousin brother, even though only their grandfathers were brothers.
