I just got off the phone with my sister. I had called my dad to tell him I was sick today and had to miss church, and he put me through to her after he said the cat got hurt and it cost 450$ to give medical care to. I told dad I didn't want to hear it, but he put me through to my sister anyway. She said the cat didn't get any broken bones but the car ripped its skin off. I told my sister that I have to afford books for college and $450 is a lot of money.

This is not the first time a pet has been killed at our house. Two cats, four dogs, so far, by my count. Luckily, this young tabby could be saved, but boy was it was expensive. They decided to pay extra to go ahead and get spayed or neutered too while it was in for surgery. However, it is MALE, and so I find that pointless as it would probably not mean a litter of kittens to care for anyway, if it were not spayed or neutered. Funny thing, I begged my parents to get the cat taken to the vet before to be checked for worms, and they never did. Yet, it seems that the pets just get taken to the vet when they get maimed or have to be put to sleep. My sister said that except for the skinning of the cat (pardon the phrase), the vet said it had no other health problems--including worms, which they checked.

The other cat got trapped in the garage door...at the TOP..and had to be euthanized. It was grotesque to see it trapped up there, although I haven't seen the condition of the other cat now, which could be even less easy on the eyes.

I wish the government would slap a no-pets order on my family except for me.

Except that Roxy, my favorite pet (a beagle) would have to be given away. Of course, Roxy stays at a neighbor's house most of the time anyway, where she gets trips to the vet and nice juicy steaks.

I used to say, "Why don't we just get rid of the cats?" sarcastically, whenever my sister or brother were chided by my parents for failing to do their pet-related chores, and when the last cat got hurt. Why? I saw this coming.

Please mom, dad, NO MORE PETS.

(Really, though, it's my sister who plays on my parents sympathies to get pets.)

That's not too good. My mom decided to let the vet put my old cat to sleep when she got hit by a car, even though she could have been saved.
