Glad you were able to work your way through the problem that triggered your melt down.
Because computer problems can be so stressful, I do want to recommend for others here on the WP site that you not rush to download Windows 10 until the free year is almost up. There are bound to be a lot of bugs found during that year that will then be patched. Those who download earlier are the guinea pigs who "help" find the bugs. Those who wait until later benefit by receiving a less buggy download.
Believe me, I do understand how many of you feel. I would really like to have Windows 10 RIGHT NOW, but I am going to wait until the free download period is over. I am also going to partition my drive, and install it in a separate section, so I can keep my Windows 7 OS, too. That way, if I have problems with one, I can still use the other. If you just can't make yourself wait until the free download period is almost up, at least install it in a separate partition. That will save you a lot of stress if something does go wrong. And if all else fails, you can download free versions of Linux right from the internet, but again, put them in a separate partition, if you can.
