Don't suppose I can step off this planet for a few hours?

I'm incredibly overloaded right now. I have a large dissertation ethics form to fill out for Tuesday, plus a project proposal, plus Christmas (which isn't exactly something I celebrate, but family do and expect me to partake), plus revision for my winter exams. My emotions are all over the place anyway since I'm researching ethical violations in ABA and the anecdotes are truly horrifying, and I've has a severe back acne flareup which means wearing anything but a light tshirt or a loose hoodie is absolutely sensory hell. My brain is telling me to self harm or to buy enough of some medication to off myself with - I know this is a temporary problem, and I'm not depressed, but I can't help what I'm feeling. I'm so tired and I just want to step out of the world for a few hours and not have to worry on these things.

Anyone got any tips on handling myself at this time?

You're in Bangor. I stayed there once about 1993. Then I went up to Houlton.

Does ABA mean Applied Behavioral Analysis, or American Bar Association?

If I were in your situation, I would be overloaded, too. But at least you're going towards your Doctorate! I only have my Bachelor's with some graduate work.

What I would do.....compartmentalize your time. Know when everything is actually due. Just make what's due soonest your priority.

Aside from DMT which certainly can make you feel like you've stepped off the planet for a bit, also very illegal. The best thing I could suggest is doing something to occupy your mind and get it off all those stresses for a while. Also maybe take a break from researching the ABA violations, though I know it can be hard not to be drawn in by that kind of thing but overwhelming if you bombard yourself with too much of it at once. .

Ah, I'm in Bangor, UK, not Bangor, ME. Never been to Houlton before. :3 And this is for my bachelor degree. Planning to get a doctorate, tho that'll be in a few years :D

And yeah, ethics in Applied Behavior Analysis is what i'm looking at. :3 Thanls for the suggestion - organizing myself is 10/10 something I'm terrible at, so hopefully compartmentalizing my time should help somewhat.

Ahaha, yeah no illegal drugs please. :) I'd love to take a step back and have some time to myself, but every time I try, I always have my dissertation proposal at the back of my mind, and I feel guilty because I'm not doing it. :3 I might try and focus on anther part of it though - maybe the methodology, or tidying up my referencing...

I think the best you can do is to, for example, write down all the things you have to do, and if you can, plan how to do them and put them in order from easiest to hardest, then do the easiest one first. In the meantime, try doing some breathing exercises, or spend time with and stroke a pet if you have one (this has been proven to e.g reduce blood pressure) or something you like doing that won't stress you out. I hope this helps :)

Try some meditation therapy.
Something i tried a few weeks ago was something called "floating"; you basically just float in luke-warm salt water and get all the time you need to meditate and think about nothing; this is as close as i got to to leaving the planet by legal means.
