My psychiatrist is putting me on Lexapro Not sure how they will make me feel heard good/bad reviews online. Was wondering if any WPers dealt with Social Anxiety IMO I can barely interact one on one beyond that a classroom in college (course I hated Spanish) RAN OUT IN TEARS CRYING! 50th Surprise party 20 or so people & Thanksgiving ALSO ran out of the room crying.

How do you cope with social anxiety do you take anything or other techniques or things you use???

I've taken lexapro before for depression. It actually seemed to be one of the better meds I've been on. Also took arapax for social anxiety which really just made me talk a lot so I had a lot of content to analyse later. That gave me new things to be anxious about.

I try to go trough on willpower alone. i am always on edge that i get too reliant on "tools" (meds, earmuffs, sunglasses, whatever), to the point where i can't function without them; i delay that point as much as possible.

When i was younger, i used to take some quint-hydrogen-bi-carbon-hydroxide, but that was a slippery slope, so i quit doing that.

No, basically I just tend not to fit in.
That said, I would recommend Epsom salt baths.
I tried Epsom salts for a skin condition
and discovered it elevates my mood
because it consists of magnesium and sulfate ...
both of which can be very helpful for relaxation.
I'm going to a work-related Christmas party this weekend,
and was just thinking I should probably take an Epsom salt bath
the night before.

...

I never took medication for social anxiety, but I did take it briefly as a teenager for depression. I was off it a year or two later and I don't think it did that much for me. I know someone who's on medication for GAD and it's helped him a lot, so it's a maybe it works, maybe it doesn't type of thing.

Social anxiety has lessened over the years for me with general life improvements, but it's slow going and not a solution people can really turn to.

I'm on 100 mg of Sertraline a day for general anxiety and depression and I've discovered it helps a lot with my social anxiety too. Since I feel more calm with the meds I'm also much more relaxed in social situations.

I was proscribed the SSRi Cipralex which I understand is another name for Lexapro.
Did nothing for my depression but it certainly got rid of my Social Anxiety, for good.
I only took it for less than a year, but whilst on it, I seemed to have learnt confidence whilst the SSri was inhibiting my anxiety to the extent I haven't taken the SSRi for quite a few years no, but still retain that confidence that I didn't have before.

klonopin

It works alright for just having a calmer demeanor in general, I don't have as many panic attacks and when I do I don't physically feel it like I might of at one time. I would like to try different benzos maybe, it is the only medicine I have ever taken that I can say has lessened my anxiety.
