Everything has just gotten too much. Uni, overloaded and overwhelmed by the holiday season especially with Christmas and New Years' looming, exam and deadlines in the first couple of weeks on the new year and my first placement starting the end of January. Also, my dad informed us over the weekend that a couple of weeks ago he found a lump in his neck and now I'm really scared. We're hoping he's going to see the doctor tomorrow but he keeps saying he might not which is just making it more stressful. I was there when he was talking to my mum about it and it's just made me really worried.
I think it's been building and although in the past couple of weeks at least, I haven't had a full-blown lose it big style meltdown, I've had a few smaller ones and the past week I've been on 'the edge'. The last few days the storm has really been brewing so to speak, I've really struggled and I don't know how to stop it and get myself out of it. It's made things really difficult at home and contributing to arguments. My mum has asked what's wrong but I haven't been able to explain it to her. Even if I shared this or something like it with her, to give her an idea, I'm not able to verbally talk about it so there's not much point creating the trouble of it. There's nothing I can really do.

Monday and Thursday next week we're supposed to have our collaborative practice module days which means different rooms, different people, group work, more work being set. I'm really worried about how I'm going to cope. I've got to try and get the work for tomorrow done this evening as I had completely forgotten and I'm not sure I can do it. I'm worried it's going to get too much tomorrow and I don't know how to handle it if it does :(

Sorry no one replied.. but I think it's because we all have this problem. I work for FedEx and it's the holiday season, and every which way out of town has a snow emergency of some sort. I've worked 60 hours every week this month, overnight, in the cold and snow.. it's very stressful. I guess what gets me through it is looking ahead.. I have 2 4-day weekends, some solid plans to go skiing, and I'm confident once that comes I'll have no worries. I can just kick back and relax.

But in the mean time, make sure you do the basics to keep stress away. Get your sleep for sure, don't hang around stressful/drama inducing people, find comfort in people you can openly talk to.

The lump in your fathers neck may be a problem, but it is much more likely that it is not serious. You need to try to tell yourself to not worry about that until you know there is an actual problem.
I had the same problems at Uni. You may need to choose something to let go if you really cannot handle everything. Create a strategy to get as much of the most important stuff done as possible, and work out what you can make up for later if it goes badly.
And MOST IMPORTANTLY, learn from it. Do not overload yourself in the future. Better to take one good step forward than two steps forward and one step back. You do extra work, have extra stress, for no net benefit.
