My husband thought giving me a used ASUS laptop would be a great Valentine's Day gift. Problem is, it is taking a long time to update. This led me to state how useless my iPad is, how Apple products suck, and that I'll spit on Steve Jobs's grave. My husband took this personally, saying the laptop is a big mistake, and that he should have just given me the flowers, which he also gave me.

I hate myself, because I was as ungrateful as a 3 y/o who has a lot of toys to play with, but want more. Sometimes, I feel like I am better off single, so I won't have to deal with this crap. I mean, I don't even deserve marriage. I feel like the worst wife ever.

When my wife realizes that she has shown a lack of gratitude, she comes to me and says that she's sorry for her behavior, then she gives me a hug. I can't stay angry at her.

Please give it a try, you may both feel better for it.

It's a shame you misbehaved like that. Just be the best housewife you can be, and show your man appreciation by cooking him dinner and do some cleaning, like a good little housewife should. Chuck some ironing in there too.

I'm confused where this is coming from. How does it relate to the issue of being upset when someone gave you nice gifts?

I've had to learn to fake liking gifts, for most people talking negative about stuff and even more so expensive stuff they got you, upsets them.p

Your outburst was insensitive and self-centered -- but entirely human. Follow Fnord's advice!

Ever since my brother jailbroke it, I couldn't update it any higher than 6.0. And the apps used to get games that way are useless now. And I can't afford another iPad because it costs like $500.

@VegetableMan, thank you for your input. I deserve it.

So not the iPad's nor apples fault. Jailbreaking violates apples support and warranty and doesn't really give much benefit. If I wanted an android I'd gotten Samsung galaxy tablet. Perhaps it's possible to factory reset it to stock form? I dont know I've never messed with jailbreaking. I don't do illegal stuff.

Perhaps you can get one through cell phone service like I am. Instead of buying one out front I pay $30 a month for two years. Same money just spread out so it's possible. I could never afford s $900 iPad otherwise. Or Walmart sells the iPad mini 2 for lot less then $500 I think. It's not as good and won't get new updates but it's ok. Also I think payments for s mini 4 is only like 22 or so. I pay 27 for an air 2 pulse data. Which for me is $10 .

WitchsCat, I wanted to further say that we are all guilty of acting a little selfishly. Don't beat yourself up about it. If I had a dollar for every time I hurt someone is that fashion..well, I'm sure I could buy something very nice! Don't think for a moment you're a bad person.

Good LORD!! ! Try not to see things so black and white. Apple does suck. In fact, their giving the
FBI a hard time too.
Just because the gift didn't go so well doesn't mean you don't deserve the institution of marriage. Look, just apologize.
If you hate Apple, then that's how you feel. Tell your husband that just because you hate Apple, doesn't mean that you don't adore him and appreciate everything about him. I adore my husband but every year, he gives me a Barnes and Noble Gift card for Christmas and I absolutely HATE that he does this. I tell him this every year and he just laughs and laughs. Now, if you acted like you loved the gift and then met another man for dinner, now that's a person who shouldn't be married. Think of when you were a child and your Gran or Auntie gave you a gift that didn't quite act like it did in the TV commercial. Suppose you became hysterical, did Gran or Auntie actually make the toy? No, right? Gran and/or Auntie got fooled by the marketing department too. You still loved them, right?
