My mother thinks she knows everything...

Just this morning a sh***y windows update was forced on me, unfortunately it killed my computer so I had to boot it. I just said "dammit" and my mother rushed to me with an angry look and stared at my computer screen.

I told her I got an issue because of some windows update and she started to scream to inches away from my head "DON'T BLAME THE WINDOWS!! !! YOU ALWAYS SAY EVERYTHING IS s**t!! !! !! !! !" and she resumed breathing two inches away from my head and staring at my computer. then she told me "YOU KNOW THE SITES YOU GO ON HAVE VIRUSES!! !! !! !! !! !!" so I told her to stop overreacting and that it wasn't a virus, simply Microsoft messing up again, so she started to yell about how I shouldn't be blaming "[/b]THE WINDOWS[/b]" and that viruses are everywhere and that "site owners are paid to put viruses on their sites so every site has viruses" and that "dirty sites are the worst". f**k off, I don't go on "dirty websites". Everyday I have to endure her BS.

Yeah....parents could be a trip sometimes!

Meh, think of it like this. Older generations tend to not know technology all that well. Let her have her frustrations. And have a laugh inside about it.

Trust me, parents are like that sometimes. If she wants to believe those things she said, what's the harm in letting her? You know differently, and we both know that getting frustrated and feeding into the confrontational nature of your mother's angry lecture will only make things worse.

All of this is easier said than done.

If you start your day with your mother yelling at you over something so trivial, no wonder you're so angry all the time...

Look on the bright side: she won't catch you off guard years from now by being unreasonable when you most need to reason with her.

Sounds like my own mom back when she was a chatroom addict. Little did she knew the encounters with her hacker 'friends'. Blames me for being know-it-all and accused me of causing viruses because I installed too many games.

Until we got a new PC, in which I took complete ownership for myself and for my own alone. No one else is allowed to touch it. There were no complaints nor any problems in the PC since.

And, she still has her tech frustrations in her office sometimes, and bugs me to fix it. Granted, everyone in her workplace are barely computer literate.
