As far as things being stolen/disappearing from the latest shelter , just to state it clearly , Ihad , under the pretense of the staff " cleaning up " , take:
Two (IIRC) spare pair of eyeglasses (Generics ~ I haven't had prescriptions in SO long ) .
The only working belt , for a pair of pants , I had .
Two flashlights .
Some publications .
Also , some soda bottles , newspapers , surely they could see what glasses , etc. , are ?
Oh , and today , additionally , I found that:
A bag with underwear that I had that was in line to be washed (I left it alone til' now til' the completely-never-worn underwear I seperately had also got used .) - and they apparently threw out my underwear , too .
I could say more , but my time runs out .

Many years ago, I worked in a group home.
And one time, one of the staff
stole diapers from the adult clients who needed them.
Some people are just despicable.

...Did anything happen to the stealers ?
I might try to go back to the previous shelter , if nothing else ~ I really wish someone would help me , as I have lengthily outlined , improve my technology/smartphone/putting things up ability !

Unfortunately, the thief was never caught.

As for learning computer technology, how many days have you been asking for help from us now?
If you had asked one question a day to a librarian for every day you ask us on the forum, you'd know quite a bit more by now.
I bet you could post a picture here if you really wanted.
Up to you to take the next right step to make that happen.

When you're homeless you basically have to be paranoid and never give anyone a chance to steal from you by having your posessions with you at all times or by having them locked up somewhere safe. I don't know how it is at the shelter you stay at, but the one I was at a few years ago told us not to leave anything behind during the day unless it was locked away in a storage locker. It would probably be a good idea to keep all your belongings with you at all times to save yourself some stress when you are probably already overwhelmed as it is, if not then sadly this kind of behavior is to be expected from others no matter what shelter you go to.

I think you overestimate the amount of time/willingness librarians have for " casual " things ~ When I was trying to set up going to college more actively than I am now I tried to get more help from librarians than they were willing to (Going along with people/person here's suggestions) and was old " We can't do that " or similar . MAYBE in a small town (and they like you) that would be different but this is a big city (even a " local " neighborhood in a big city as opposed to the " center of everything " Main Library , as this is) .
Also , bluntly , I'd need the tech at hand to learn how to do things . I don't have it .
I have said that I could buy basic/low-end such tech . I could , but I'd have to plan it , know what do . Then actually do the buying . I have not .

...With my very limited posting time I do not have the time I thought I would to explain the problems I have with my clothes ~ But I can't now .
Thatiii, has the fact that the , at least possibility (I - suppose - less than 50%) of dying in the next year ~ as in not reacing 57 ~ has been brought up to me by a doctor ? Official . I've written about it elsewhere .
If I could just combine-rest , and (with my Medicare this can be done , I'm getting - not enough - some now anyway) I could get better , not die yet ...

...Another poiint ~ This place , the Main Library , is seen as " a center of the homeless problem " in San Francisco , it gets written up that way in the newspapers , they have homeless assist teams here .
Frankly , I tend to think keeping a certain distance/reticence ~ politeness/propriety , of course ~ from the staff may be better , perhaps in avoiding a familiarity-breeds-contempt feeling .
I am curfewed at the shelter , too , and , I DO have this bizarre sleeping pattern I have fallen into , and I am still crippled !
It's not that the homeless assist teams are all bad to homeless , many try to help ~ However , during my last spell in San Francisco before this one , I was constantly running into a certain guard who was always throwing me out of the library .

...As far as the thefts go , to , this most recent one was not primarily other HL (I assume) stealing it , but the shelter staff ~ I guess based on the pretense of " cleaning up " ~ tossing out those glasses , flashlights , the pants belt and reading matter , as well as food and newspers , more " toss-out " type fodder !
However , I also discovered that my most recent cheap tablet had been stolen , from the carrier bag it was in , this presumably more by " peers " (perhaps not at the shelter) ~ I had been unable to use it recently with there being no WiFi for it at the shelter , no time to charge it ~ it was inactive .
It was stolen too , however !
Just going back to immediately before this , too , there was another " staff-throwaway " situation at the last shelter that particularly got to me .
