What is this "going out"? :? It hurts (more so than it normally does anyway) when I step on any path that isn't my own.
There's nothing I find anymore exciting or enjoyable "out there" than what I hold within; it's pretty hectic in here....
Going out means discomfort, being ill-at-ease. Having to subject myself to others' rules & "norms" is less rewarding than staying home.
I'm lucky to have a companion, he's not agoraphobic like I am, so he comes & goes. Every once in a while, we go out & do errands together-briefly. He helps me blend in, at least feel slightly less weird, it's hard to explain the difference a trusted support person can make. I've a couple counselors, too-and they suggest activities or events we could check out (which I decline)-but they've been instrumental in helping me tolerate certain things I had to do.
I do wish I felt like it's all my decision to not go places-but it's my panic, insecurity, and so on that keep me stuck. I am only interested in what I'm interested in, though-so it's mostly pointless to socialize because most people don't share my narrow preferences & idiosyncratic views. Whether or not I "like" myself, I'm still the most fascinating person (to myself) that I can imagine & no one else can compete. Don't see that changing-I'll remain "attached" to myself until I die.
