Okay, so she tells me that I need to be independent right? And yet she makes EVERY excuse in the book, most of which involve being an Aspie, in order to bring me down and make me feel like s**t. [Pardon the swearing, its only gonna get worse.]

So then, I tell her that I want to go to college by myself, because I think I can do it, and she says no because I, "have problems getting up in the morning and time management." Well, you stupid cow, you know what the solution for that is?

AFTERNOON CLASSES!! !! !! !!

Oh, and then she proceeds to tell me that I dont understand sarcasm, . . . . well, I actually do, its just that her sense of humor is such a crock of s**t. AND she has the TEMERITY to tell EVERYONE that I am her SPECIAL child and that I have SPECIAL needs!! !! IN PUBLIC TO TOTAL STRANGERS!! !

Plus, she doesnt get my humor, which is crass, vulgar, dark, and british. Hers is dry and lacks any flavor at all. I swear, my humor is a well visited museum library, and hers is an institution for those without immunes systems where everything is white and blank.

Hope you got that analogy. My mom would here make a comment that I dont understand what I am saying and my analogy is wrong.

Plus, I think she is bi-polar and not seeking treatment.

AND, to top it ALL off, two freinds are engaged, mom is taking her "I dont want to move, but husband lost his job and now drives 4 hours a day for his new one" anger out on me.

Dude, am I wrong to be pissed, because she sure makes me feel like s**t.

And, lastly, a 10 year old the other day called me a "Mother f*****g c**t ass b***h"

This society sucks. I didnt even know the word c**t until 3 years ago!

I had a nearly identical situation when I was 18 years old (I'm 27 now).

As for afternoon classes, at least where I'm going it isn't easy to guarantee that for freshman year. Most freshmen enjoy the punishment of 8 A.M. classes, 9:30 or so at best. Some luck out, my roommate had nothing before 11 A.M. every day. That made it real easy for me to get well rested, with him playing solitaire or minesweeper until 3 A.M.

Your mother's reasoning is horrible in this case. If you aren't allowed to try, then you can't fail. You also can't succeed.

My advice would be that if you want to go to college; I would do it with or without your parents approval/blessing.

Becca, my mom did the same thing to me when I graduated from high school. She insisted I needed another year at home with her. I did it. I trusted her judgement. You know what? It was without question absolutely the WORST decision of my LIFE. Go. Go to college. f**k what she says. Just go. If you need help or tips or have questions about anything big or small, come ask us here. We will help you figure things out.

That really sucks, my family pushed for me to get into college, not to stay out of it.

I think a simple solution is to take a few (one maybe) classes at a local community college. If you do well that will convince your parents you are serious at wanting to be a full time student. If you do poorly it might convince you to consider other options.

To the OP:
I know how you feel.
My mom acts a bit similar to yours but since mine is a religious nut and an undiagnosed bi-polar psuedo-bitch who doesn't believe a word I say.
Worse, whenever I talk anything involving Aspergers, she gives me the silent treatment!

One of these days, I'm just gonna tell her to STFU!

thats awful. controlling people who keep pushing you down and dont think you can do as much as you can just totally suck. I am sorry you hsve to deal with it. Go to college - it wasnt easy for me but it was the best decision I could have made.
