...I got put into a new room in an SRO to-day by my worker/an organization .
This is good/better than being in a shelter but there are problems .
I have a touch more than $30 paper cash , that will be it , now , til' Tuesday .
Most of all , meals are not ~ at all ~ provided there , unlike the two provided in the recent shelter . (No cooking or refrigeration either .) Therefore ~ What , should I , for now , essentially rely 100% , basicqally anyway , on the two main free feeds in the Tenderloin area (I'll drop names ~ Glide and St. Anthony's) , as I did for most of my years here , really ?
Well , back then my walking ability was stronger than it is now :( . I am now somewhat crippled/strained when walking  (which I likely do the excess , in a sense ~ Strain myself walking more than I should .
I have had the same clothes son since this day last week ~ And , though I got back my other pants/clothes (Just two full sets overall , counting what I am wearing .) the other set , which I got back to-day , was already (especially the pants) REALLY in need of a wash , even before being left wherever in a hospital/-type packing bag for a week . And , I just don't feel like going to the effort , with my minimal money , to go to a laundromat now - I suppose there may be one near where I am but I have not confirmed that as yet and ~ Especially considering my weakness , remember ~ TheI have no receptacle/decent bag to carry clothes to a 'mat . Just a laundry bag , remember ?
The room has a sink , toilet and shower down the hall .
I have no clock/watch to tell me what time it is .
I have no home entertainment machine ~ No TV , radion , Internet thingy , DVD ~ Perhaps I could get a cheapo radio ?
Uh , it might take about everything I've got and I don't relate much to the radio anymore :| .
The point of having no clock is that I won't know what time it is , re getting to the feeds , particularly the likely " main" one for me , nearer me at noon .
I mean , I'd supposed I'd maybe try to catch up on sleep ~ The place is rather rule-heavy , too .

...What I'm saying is ~ with the situation of (for me :( ) sorta-hefty  walks to the free feeds , maybe tell myself I'll reduce intake and aim for ~ one meal a day plus some extra ???
Howevs , too , both those free feeds can cause you to have to deal with staff with attitudes . Especially with my walking/standing in line problems , I haven't finalized my status that way at one and they sort of - uh , sort of minimalize my condition/behave a little as if they don't entirely believe me (Though nobody actually says that ~ This description is sort of a simplification .) at the other , and if I want to go around and get leftovers , well , I'd have to get some Tupperware fiirst , and at least one of the places says you aren't supposed to take food out with you...

I would invest in a cheap watch off the street. You could probably get a watch for about $3 or so at a thrift store. Many of them have alarms.

If you get free feeds, $30 is not a bad amount to have until Tuesday.

What sort of place is this which has your SRO?

You can buy off brand Woolite for two bucks and wash a set of clothes in the sink. If you wring them out well they will dry in 24 hours if you hang them near an open window or fan or a.c. vent. Even over a chair back works.

For food I would go to the grocery store and get those heat and eat Mac and cheese in the serving containers or ravioli, etc. They are fine to eat at room temp without heating. They are also usually about a dollar. You can also get cured lunch meat that won't need refrigeration and bread and cheese. Under ten bucks for sandwich stuff.

Also Meals on Wheels delivers to elderly and disabled. My mother was getting a month of hot lunches for $20. Then again that was here, where there is much more for elderly and disabled. But they may have it there. Have you asked you're friends for suggestions? If they are in the same boat they would surely know of an agency.

Junk stores and yard sales have paperback books for a quarter and you could stay occupied with that until you find a way to get internet.

...Thank you to all , I tend to get cheap cooking-not-required stuff already .
Actually , it is likely that I will go out and beg tonight ~ which I haven't done in a while ~ simply for lack of something to do .
Last night I consiously tried to sleep a lot (and perhaps was a trifle sleepy-er/hung over this morning?? from the - tiny , one of those $3.50 bottles that you can hold between your thumb and first finger - Jack Daniels I got yesterday in celebration , drinking only part of it , it's still not completely consumed , I am an absurdly light drinker that way) , so I'll likely not be v. sleepy for a while ~ Although , going from an admittedly fairly ample mean (I got seconds) of spigetti/etc. at the noon feed , I wanted to lie down & sleep , but going back to the place ~ and missing this session , too:-(...
I'm going to say more in the next installment of this , and furthermore , I'm going to give some " icky " details about me...Here goeth . You can't say you haven't been warned ! !!

...I was also somewhat down yesterday because of two details that I did not have time too add ~ One , the bag I was carrying with me almost got stolen ~ Or , actually , it WAS stolen , I just by luck noticed it going towards the door and , acting polite , said " You may have made a mistake " and managed to get back my bag - with even more secondary glassses , newspapers , food ~ It had been in the leve-your-bags-here We take no responsibility corner of that feed .
I don't recall anything being taken from here before .
I mean , the Motherf***er obviously WAS trying to steal my stuff  , I just managed to stop him and he walked away unscathed  .
Then , yesterday , even as my HOT Team worker came to me with the news of the room ~ He also , when I asked him about it , said he had not followed up on calling the SF Library to tell them I was in the hospital Tuesday of last week and therefore could not go to the " trial/appeal " the Lib. had called on me over their BS banning on me ~ The worker was supposed to tell them that I was in the hospital on that day ~ Quite legitimately admitted into the hospital ~ and so could not go to their tibunal/" trial " , hopefully even leading to them giving up on banning me or at least delaying it .
He did not follow through on calling them to tell them so , which he had said that he would do !
I had also asked my doctor at the shelter that I left to go to the hospital then , the Rspite place ~ I am not optimistic that he followed through , certainly not now . I will check , ritually banging my head into the wall , later :( .
If I am fully banned from the Library , what will I do here .

...I just have nothing to do , really .
I am fredd now from the enforced routine of showing up at the shelter ~ However there's not much to do at the room but lie in bed .
Yes , OOM , it has occured to me that I can get second-hand books , I do that a lot ~ However , with me now banned from the Library , a main one and possibly the nearest (to where I was anyway) is cut off to me :( !
Last night , sleeping nude (In part to let my clothes air out some) , I got poopy-pants stains on the sheet I'd put on top of the bed ~ (KK , I remember you speaking of this " autistic butt " problem that " we " tend to have with our rear-end elimination . I sure do :( . Next time - Take that sheet off , and sleep clothed , with the blanket on top of me ? (I'm a little afraid that the on-top-of-me sheet might have a little poop residue - Or , for that matter , my eye mask , which I have on a chair by the bed .
Also , frankly , maybe I over-walk . Maybe I am straining my heart too much . On a certain level , and I'm glad OOM brought it up , though it may seem outragously lazy for me to say this...I have thought that having at least some meals brought to me might help my recovery .
And having some entertainment in the room .
Thhe toilet on the floor I went to is ICKY (And I braved the CBGB's toilet back in the day !  :P )~ Flushed , it at least immediately seemed to let a little additional water in but not go down . There was IIRC no tP or a sink in the toilet room .
Frankly , with my frequent peeing , I have fallen into peeing in the sink ~ With me taking these " get rid of my water weight "/diaretic pills , I pee a lot .
Nasty ? Well , I keep the faucet on and wash my hands .
Besides , isn't it TRULY manly  ?

No, peeking in the sink is not truly manly, it's nasty. You wash your face and brush your teeth in that sink and that makes it more likely you'll catch something. Just pee in the toilet and don't flush every time if you have a problem getting the toilet to flush.

As for the poop on the covers thing, shower before bed to get any residue off you and put on clean underwear. Wash a pair in the morning so it dries during the day and wear the other pair you washed out the night before if you only have two pair. Cleanliness is very important to not only your health but to having a better chance of people helping you, even if it's their job. If it's their job and they work for an agency and they have any choice at all about who to give available help to, most people will pick a person who is clean over one who is dirty. Being clean not only makes you more pleasant to be around, it shows others that you are making an effort to take care of yourself and if they are going to make an effort to help you they want to see that you are doing the same thing as well. When you don't have a place to wash up that's one thing but you have your own place now with access to a shower and a sink to wash clothes in. That's another reason you don't pee in the sink, you don't want to wash your clothes in pee water. If you show up clean and polite you have a much better chance of getting help.

Since you have a way to do this now, you should probably shave and shower every evening and wash a set of clothes every night. Also change the sheets if you got poop on them. I'd sleep in underwear as well, and I'd spend that money on Depends so you don't end up smelling like pee and poop, because that would really drop your chances of getting help to almost nothing. Most places I've worked at would and do ban people over smelling bad to the extent it bothers others, and you can smell poop and pee when you aren't right next to someone else.

How is your overall hygiene? Do you shower daily when you have access, and brush your teeth, wash your face and shave daily even when you don't have a shower? Because that's very important. Having a bathroom where you can wash clothes so you have clean ones daily is a huge help. Being and smelling clean and groomed every day will go a long way towards other people being willing to help you out and give you services. Not being clean and having odor could also have contributed to the reasons the library banned you. Even if it wasn't said to be the reason, it probably contributed to the librarian not wanting you around. Smells linger after a person leaves so she would have to deal with it after you go.

You can't do anything about the past and how you have been, but you can do something about the present and about being clean now. So I'd go to the store now and get grooming items and depends. Woolite, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, shaving cream, razor, deodorant, comb or brush. That's what I would spend the 30 bucks on. Entertainment is good to have but being clean is far more important and can lead to you having more opportunities to find entertainment.

Do you know how to wash your clothes in the sink?

...OOM , I have only a sink , the toilet , as I said , is down the hall and incredibly nasty , the whole thing of being in an SROmeans that I have to either leave my door unlocked or go through the rigamarole of locking/unlocking , and I have to pee very much , and often pretty soon after I feel it , going through (again) the rigamarole of getting dressed , opening/locking my door , going down to a (IF it's open and working) toilet , going , then reversing the process to go back ! :x
BTW , I think I only have one electric plug in the whole room - Not one set of two , just one plug .
:o

...I should say that , when I whiz in the sink , I turn the water on first , then , after the No. 1 is finished , wash and wash my hands , with the soap going into the sink below .
I won't rewrite it now , but I'll point out again what the circumstances of a bathroom-down-hall SRO (IF said loo is open ! !! !! !! !!) AND my , especially with the get-rid-of my excess water weight dierretics(sp??) I'm taking , mean - Especially with all the stuff I've had stolen/taken/etc. . Incidentally , I don't think I've mentioned that , during my last hospitalization , the hospital managed to " lose " the shoes (sandals) I had on when I was admitted , after I took them off in the ER they ~ um ~ lost track of them and I've been down to one pair of shoes (" almost shoes " sandals , worn sockless - how I roll) :( .
I bought a new , second outfit , at Target today , with my SSDI having come .
With my very large size and the unreliable labeling of Goodwill/Sally Army they maybe aren't that reliable sources for clothes for me ~ at least when I'm in an emergency/-ish low level of clothes , and I had just one .
Now it's two .
Kraftie Kortie , I was referring above to something I remember you saying , that you have elimination/Number Two problems and you've never?? known an AS person not to have them/there's some scientific backing here for this though no explanation why .
I do go to the SRO's nasty loo when I do No. 2 , I suppose I may not have Absolutely ! Spelled ! That ! Out ! before .

...I have a big beard , I don't shave .
I think I look somewhat like a more WASP version of Mel Brooks in that movie " LIFE STINKS " (which I haven't seen ~ and , um , I see that Mel is cleanshaven in it  ) .
I have only two teeth ~ that has been the way for a long time , most were removed and no one has ever gotten dentures for me (Just recently , I signed with an ~ an HMO ? ~ that said they could get me dentures , and prescription glasses , which I have not had for many years , but briefly , they did not follow up , even when I exactly followed their instructions on calling them i got only a " no one's here " .
It should be pointed out that , when I had that poop-residue-on the sheet , it was butt residue , it was not me pooping on the bed . I did sleep in shorts or even fully dressed with just shoes of in nights after that anyway , OOM , before you said anything .
Am I turning off folks ? Well , it's not like anybody was inviting me to stay with them anyhow  .
Just think what I did to take care of bathroom needs when I was fully HL !
Now , maybe ~ I have thought this ~ I have been HL so long (Basically full-time since 1996 though with brief " temporary " times like now ~ and a couple more times in somewhat more deep " ex-homeless places " which , however , didn't quite work out , including something involving the same outfit that IIRC was behind my teeth being mostly pulled and , generally , screwed me over- :( ~But I digress ~lus , earllier on , there was more money available for a week inside here or there , not to mention a time about 2004 when my finaces worked out so that I could afford a standard SRO room (although I still led a fairly " homeless life in it - If , perhaps , I had had the - Idea ? Connections ? Whatever ? - to try and go back to colleege then , well , who knows what might have happened ?
I am making digressions within digressions :| :( .
Yes , I thought I've " gone feral " a bit - A ways ago , I'd read the Sunday newspaper TV supplement and see what movies were on AMC that week and think of what I might want to watch , say , even if it turned out I didn't ~ Of course , AMC dropped the old-movies format anyway , and newspapers have tended to drop having a Sunday TV section ~ But ANYWAY ! :x

LOL....I never said that people with autism ALL have digestive problems. That would be ridiculous. I'm not a doctor!

I said many people with autism SEEM to have digestive problems, including me.

...OK , KK .
You know , even with no Wi-Fi , if I had a working phone , I could listen to the music - But I don't even have the base knowledge to burn onto them , so I can't  .
Just as my lack of computer basics makes me unable to put up , say , an icon/whatever on a Couchsurfing or Kickstarter post , that maybe , if I could get it up , I could get something nice with (maybe) . I am a member of both , IIRC .
My lack of knowledge makes me unable to put things up ! !! !! !! !! :(

...I am worried about my walking ability and the state of my back , briefly...and it seems the workers are , maybe , more interested in " Do you want a wheelchair/walker ? " then in curing me ! !! !! !! !! !!
