I'm 25 and today I still have parents who I feel like I have to cling to all the time and never was able to develop my adulthood. I do not care what my parent's side have to say about it anymore. I want to escape and find my own place and job but the Catch-22 is that I can't because my parents will punish me or worry about me. They have already set me up with personal assistants to take me out into the community and it's destroying my free time during the week. I would rather motivate myself to do something that I want to like work for instance. My parents sign me up and up like me to do that because they thought that I was being unproductive at home all day doing nothing and back then I was unmotivated. But I want to become self move it now and it's been hard to communicate my issue with the least patronizing language.

I just want to break free now.

I was like you with clinging to my mom & depending on her most of the time, I felt like I didn't become an adult when I was in my 20s, later I wanted to move out, but I was mentally ready to move out, I did move out when I was 37.

If you are ready to move out then be strong & stand up to your parents, you are an adult, take control of your life.

It might help to show the initiative and set up positive/productive things on your own. Its not an all and nothing transistion, where they do everything for you and then the next day you are on your own trying to do everything. That is setting yourself up for failure. So instead begin to take the reins of your own affairs. Actions not words. Both sides are probably tired of words.
