I quit Facebook it seemed to be a waste of time. I still feel sad. I feel like a failure for not understanding how to network. I'm in sales and I thought it would be a good idea to learn about Facebook for sales and social activism, but it was wasting a lot of time. I have a hard time grasping how fake people are online. I realized no one commented on any of my post. NOT ONE!! ! Cute cat picture 1000 likes but when I post about being involved in politics- zero likes from my liberal friends. A lot of people respected my opinions in my indivisible (activist) group, but I only have so much time and energy. The little time I have needs to be invested in real community and real friends. I don't why I'm posting here, but I feel like a failure. How can I be a successful sales person when I can't even get Facebook right? I was think maybe I could try blogging instead. It seems blogs are "healthier" than the conversations on Facebook. It's so overwhelming to manage online (FAKE) relationships. My life is a lifetime story, so I really don't want to talk to people from my past. I don't know any way to cope other than cutting people off. I feel bad, but if the only way we talk is on Facebook then that relationship isn't worth my time in my opinion. What little time I have should be spent developing healthy face to face relationships.

About a year ago I deleted my FB and stopped using social media.

For me, I have a hard enough time analyzing real life interactions as it is. Plus your correct, FB, Twitter, etc, is just a waste of time and life, mixed in with a whole lot of crap, fake crap. I like to read articles on subjects I like on my phone and that's about it other than texting.

C'mon. We all deserve to treat ourselves better than to whore ourselves out for Facebook likes.

The whole world could use a Facebook detox at this point.

I always found that the worst thing about using sites like Facebook is being barely able to scrape together a friends-list longer than 5 or 6 people, while everyone else has a 1000+ long list of friends ..

.. and then those few 5 or 6 decide to delete you from their list for some reason.

Can you elaborate on what you mean?
