Today we're having a party at my house. When my brother and father were moving a sofa and I stood to the side, they said I was in their way, and in a frustrated and angry manner. I clearly said that I did nothing wrong and that I was not in the way, and said it several times. Then everone else just angrily told me to 'shut up!' They were moving a sofa, but that's not an excuse to be angry at an autistic person when they've done nothing wrong. Do any of you get things like this?
Also, I had a collection of bank receipts that I wanted to burn or dissolve in water so that nobody could piece them together and get my card details, and I asked my parents about this. My mum said "No-one's going to look at your receipts" - but if frauds piece together expired credit cards, then why not receipts? I got into a slight dispute over this and I will not accept the fact that my logical attitude is dismissed. Just because it's not what most people would do...
It's as if it is okay to get angry at me and get away with it, but doesn't the Bible say "Do not even become angry with your brother" (I'm not particularly religious but I think that the Bible is an excellent source of morals and rules).
Things like this only make me feel that I am abused and not appreciated in the family. Although this was just a burst of anger, my parents and brother are obviously unaware of what effect it could have on an autistic person like myself. This is one reason why I would love to move out when I'm older - I can be in control, I can treat people how I wish, I can do what I want.
I don't like the idea of an autistic person being expected to deal with something how an NT would - that is disgusting.
