I don't know how to tell you this. People are convinced they did me a huge favour but it left me exhausted and shattered.

It's about my teeth, of which I have 8 and they all hurt. Must get rid of them.

Stranger nurse came to door and asked if she could make appt for me with wonderful dentist for a "consult." I said yes and went this morning.

Dentist gave me full examination and x-rays and cleaning of my 8 black teeth. Then he said he would like to save the teeth! No! Out the teeth! Already 2 hours of pain and still got the teeth. He won't prescribe painkiller. He started giving me orders. He will mail me instructions. I am to report to a Dental Clinic at a teaching hospital, where they will learn by diving into mouth 3 at a time. They will extract my teeth - one at a time. So I have to go 8 times.

So this dentist thinks he did me a favour by working for free (I would have refused had I known). And he presents me as a guinea pig for learning dentists. Without asking my permission.

You know what's wrong? I gave the social worker a Power of Attorney to do my taxes. She's still using it for anything. Including this.

I have drafted Revocation of Power of Attorney but don't know how to make it official. Deliver by Bailiff? What am I, rich?

How can I get rid of these teeth?

i am sorry if its different and i am giving wrong information, but they cant MAKE u let trainees treat u. it can be done ONLY by ur consent. i mean, its that way here in russia. i know it well, because i have been in the system here. nobody can MAKE a person do anything like that! there must be a way to sighn off that. i am afraid i cant provide details, but its just cant be in a civilized country. they cant DEMAND u to check in, they cant MAKE u. its against every convention on human rights. and ur own word and sighn cant be measured less than any attorney. they overstep. tooth pain is awful, that i know too. also i have some dental work by trainees, i had consented to it. (not anyhow implying u should). its just simply impossible that anybody would MAKE u submit. those people just are trying to prey on u. and i am very sorry it happens. for whatever its worth. i wish u strength in this.

Serpentari is right. They can’t make you follow their plan. Do you have a copy of your Power of Attorney? If done right it should have specified that it was just for doing your taxes only. Maybe you can send the revocation by registered mail by going to Canada Post. Or something like FedEx and make them sign for it. Ive had several teeth go bad when I was young and got them pulled in my late teens. And then later a wisdom tooth pulled. Frozen when it was done but no meds after. Hurt like heck, but not as long as the broken rotten teeth hurt. I found ice helped numb the pain. It might be better not to have all eight done at once as it will hurt your jaw too be held open that long and it would be a shock to your system. But they could do a few at a time i would think.

Agreed. But it makes 8 dental lessons for baby dentists.

I doubt it. I have no uppers at all. But the old dentist was a genius who pulled all my uppers (over time) and created a mouth that looks like it has all teeth. Just so long as I don't smile. But if I keep my lips closed I look like somebody with teeth.

DISASTER. My doctor proved I have blackouts, by which I mean that I have absolutely no recollection of my first appointment with her. None. Not a whisper, not a shadow, not a maybe. Nothing. It did not happen. But I have papers that she says she signed at that meeting. They were on the kitchen table and I didn't know what they were so I gave them to the social worker, who was annoyed because I was acting like I hadn't been to the doctor. And to my mind, still, I have zero hint of a reflection of a memory that it happened.

This must be because of my NFL sized concussion a couple of years ago. The docs at the time called it "mild." No bleeding inside the head. But there's no therapy or anything so they just sent me home, with the advice that I should stand up a lot.

I checked out 'autism homes' and they don't want me because I'm not a healthy child.

I'm prepared to give up, lie there, give somebody all my money if they visit and bring meals. I'm terrified. My mind was my huge asset and now it's going, I think.

I joined a chess club a few months back, always liked chess. chess.com free. good place. but in playing I discovered that I'm not a Beginner. All of a sudden memory popped back - I know more about chess than I thought. This should have been cheery but it's spooky.

Who will take care of my cat?

I’m sure there are chess clubs in your city.

I wonder if dentures might be free for you.

are u sure those people didnt fake the papers? it might be the option, if they are so shark! maybe ur mind is integer. maybe u really were not there and they just had faked ur signature. it sounds a bit far-fetched, but. ukno, getting people to train "baby dentists" is a task, and they so might have thought u for an easy target. age and all. of cause there is a possibility that u have a blackout and that is serious reason to be reallly worried. there are ways to rehab that. people after stroke recover, people after concussion recover. i had 2 (concussions, no strokes). i wouldnt sugest just letting them kids touch u if u dont want. even if there are them papers (which sound really dubious, given that u didnt see them before and they were in hands of those people), u can still revoke. they cant make u. and mind rehab is possible. please believe in urself!

https://www.cba.ca/powers-of-attorney-w ... ed-to-know

"Remember that you can revoke an existing POA and appoint a new Attorney at any time. You may want to do this if you have concerns about the way your Attorney is acting for you, or if your situation changes and you think the person who is currently your Attorney is no longer suitable. Or the current Attorney may no longer be available to act for you. If you revoke your POA, you need to tell your bank so they can update your records to reflect your choice. If you move to a different province or territory or outside of Canada, your existing POA may not be recognized in that new location.

This text only provides general information and does not constitute a legal opinion. Since the POA rules vary between provinces, the CBA strongly encourages you to seek advice from a legal expert before making any decision in these matters."

The above is from a Canadian website. You can probably google some more to get forms and do it yourself.

Claradoon, it is so difficult as we age and start suspecting we may be losing our minds, getting dementia and others see us elder women as easy marks for fraud and abuse.

Is there anyone you can trust? You need a trusted person to review your paperwork, help you get the POA revoked and maybe a new doctor if the one you currently have is focused on showing you are having blackouts. It is of course possible you have a medical condition and that would need to be addressed. I don't know much about services available in Canada, but maybe someone here does. Is there any agency for assistance for the elderly?

I agree. I believe Claradoon is a smart and nice lady who deserves decent treatment.

I wonder if they do dentures for nominal fees in Canada.

Claradoon, if we try and do some research on services for you is it better if the information is in English or French?

Thank you, everybody, thank you so much.

Good news: I phoned the dentist and told him to forget the whole thing. Spoke to his receptionist, have not heard back. So I don't have to worry about anything dental at all.

I feel that I have regained some power over myself.

I asked the Concierge to take out the a/c and he did.

I put the laptop on my bed so I could listen to the radio again.

Onward and upwards.

:heart:

I gotta share this beautiful thing:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Self as Goat in Tree" by Mihaela Moscaliuc
Nine goats scamper up
the gnarly argan tree and graze it clean.
They ingest the wrinkled fruit whole,
though it’s the bitter pulp alone
that rouses their appetite for more.
Sated, they stare at the horizon
till branches wear thin and fall.
Farmers harvest goats’ droppings
to extract the pit rich in kernels of oil.
Haven’t you too wished yourself a goat
perched punch-drunk on a linden tree,
blasé about the gold you might s**t,
how it might serve both hunger and greed.
Haven’t you goaded yourself
to balance just a bit longer,
chew on some fugitive scents,
forget what a ditch the earth is.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
